Gorgeous views! Nice amenities! Friendly staff and delicious breakfast.
Pros:
1. The view! Get a lakeside room.
2. Breakfast had nice choices and was kept well- stocked by staff.
3. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Very helpful giving directions, making recommendations. They know they're stuff.
4. Great location for sightseeing. Short drive to many points of interest.
5. Pool was vet nice. Kids loved it. Also nice hot tub and sauna.
6. Comfy beds.
Cons:
1. No room fridge in our room. Not really a problem for us but there are some rooms with a fridge- request one if needed.
2. Breakfast seating area was quite crowded. It seemed all the guests were trying to eat at once! If the breakfast area was expanded into the front lobby area it would really ease some congestion.
3. High water levels have made the beach area very difficult to access. It's a big jump down from the last step onto the shore. Be warned...the water is verrrrrrry cold! We stuck to the nice warm pool!
Loved this place and was sad to leave!

Room Tip: Request a lakeside room. Request a fridge if needed.

I have taken note of the "cons" you have listed and we are working on the mini refrigerator issue as we have had a lot of requests. I am in the process of equipping most of the rooms and will be adding more as it becomes feasible. Unfortunately, we have no control over the high level of Lake Superior and believe me we are just as disappointed as all of our guests. We are losing property and it is very frustrating when the powers that be are well out of our reach. As for the breakfast area, when we designed and built this hotel 15 years ago the standard breakfast items for the hotel franchises were pastries, coffee, and juice. Since then we have expanded the breakfast menu but were not able to expand the breakfast area without moving it to another area of the hotel which would mean taking away the beautiful view that you can now experience while having your breakfast. We also do not want the whole lobby to look like a breakfast area as there are other times through out the year when people enjoy the comfy furniture in our lobby where they can lounge around the fireplace and have a nice meeting area for the evening.

Again, on behalf of myself and my staff, I want to thank you again for all the nice things you have said about us and we hope to see you again soon!

Have a great day!

We were quite excited to open the door to our room and see that we had a full view of the lake with a balcony. The room was clean and spacious. Lobby also had great big windows with a beautiful view. There was a little private beach - too cold to swim, but peaceful setting with lawn chairs and soft sand. This is a great place to stay when planning to visit White Fish Point and the marine museum the next day, as these points of interest are just a few miles to the north.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the water.

We stayed on this property from 7/7 -7/10 and our stay was awesome. The front desk is friendly, helpful and very accomodating. The hotel itself is super clean and nicely decorated. We had a mini suite room with a frig and mircowave oven. Our room was a second floor on the lake and the view was unbelievable. The breakfast served in the morning was very good and the staff was awesome at keeping everything available right up to closing time. They also provide free coffee all day which was nice on the cool evenings. Contrary to other reviews we thought the Red Flannel bar/restraurant was very good. The food was like home cooked and the prices were reasonable. Certainly the location (just across the parking lot) was a nice surprise. The little ice cream shop was also pleasant. We would definitly stay again. Thanks for the great visit.

Me, my wife, two girls and our disabled son stay two nights. We been coming to the area for many years. The staff was awesome, very friendly, very helpful from the desk staff to housekeeping. The room that we had was on the parking lot side which was fine by us. The beds were very comfortable, clean, warm sheets and comforters. The breakfast was very good. The pool, hot tub and sauna was very large. We loved that we could go to Whitefish Point, The Shipwreck Museum then ate at the Red Flannel Saloon. My family will be back hopefully in the fall to enjoy the colors. My wife got a great picture of the sun rise coming up over Whitefish bay.

It's the third time we've stayed at the Magnuson Hotel and we love it. The hotel has a nice pool, hot tub and sauna, which is nice after returning to the hotel after a days of adventuring. They have a great breakfast each morning including scrambled eggs, pancakes and sausage. The rooms are very spacious and clean. Shirley at the front desk is very helpful and always has a smile to share. She has been working there for years so she has great recommendations as far as where to eat and what to do. This was the first year we were there for the Fireworks and they were AWESOME... We thought they were better than Mackinaw Cities. We can't wait to go back next year!!

I'm so happy you were able to see our fireworks! We love to spread the word about them as they are so great for such a little town to host. We have had many of our guests come back after seeing them for the first time with these jaw dropping expressions on their faces! I will also pass on to Shirley the wonderful things you said about her and I thank you for that!

Very good hotel, and certainly the best in the little town of Paradise, MI. Lake view rooms are good, but be sure to specify that you want one with a BALCONY on either the 2nd or 3rd floor, otherwise people can walk by on the lawn and look into your room (and they did, but it was mostly little kids and their parents jumped on them, so no big deal). The sound deadening isn't all that good between floors, so the higher the better in all likelihood. Our stay on the 1st floor had some noise from above. Desk staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Pool, hot tub, and sauna were all up to spec. Good breakfast! Overall, a good place that could be made a bit better with some attention to little details (some fresh paint in the rooms and halls, mow the grass a little more often, be more clear about what views are expected from each room by floor).

Room Tip: Get the highest lakeside room available - 3rd floor is best, 2nd is OK, 1st is on the grass.
