“Not a bad little joint”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2012 via mobile

My wife and i stayed here and the cost was really awesome... The owners were very nice and informative about things to day and where to eat... And after riding on our bike for more then 400 miles... This little place was great....

I found myself in Paradise, MI a few nights ago having grossly over anticipated not only the area but its lodging options. Needing a place quick, I pulled into Vagabond Motel.
The owner was very upfront and honest in stating that the room would be $40/night but would NOT have air conditioning. I figured this would be alright, despite the freak heat-wave going through upper Michigan that night.
The room was not the worse place I've stayed, but far from the best. The furniture has clearly seen better days, and the beds were somewhat small. Being an older place, there also seemed to be a shortage of power outlets in the room and a few extension cords in use for the TV, fridge, fan etc. The musty smell that other reviews describe is there, be advised.
My only real problem here lay in the shower (note: shower, not bathtub/shower). There was plentiful hot water, but low water pressure and I think this had to do with the rusty shower heads. These, I think, could be quickly, easily and cheaply replaced.
The motel does have free, fast Wifi -somewhat out of place in an otherwise dated establishment. The owners will cheerfully offer you the password upon check-in.
If you find yourself in Paradise/Whitefish Point, this is an option for the night. Don't expect anything terribly grand or comfortable though.

Still Friendly, Reasonable, & Clean with the struggling economy even so with the lack of snow! Yes the rooms are outdated, and show some signs of ware but for the price, you can't beat it. Room with kitchenette has a newer flat screen tv and Rm 10 had a wall mounted older tv. But do you really come to the U.P. to watch TV and spend all your time in a room? I thought it was to enjoy the surrounding beauty of the area!

Room Tip: Have single rooms with small fridge or a couple with kitchenette that includes fullsize fridge, oven...

This motel was very clean and quite roomy. It was a great deal for the price we paid. There was no frills and yes, some outdated furniture. But for a place to spend the night, it was great and clean. The owner was very friendly. I would stay here again.

The room came to almost sixty bucks with tax...
- The parking lot is gravel and dust
- The beds are tiny and smell like an old musty basement (as does the whole room)
- The chair by the bed could have been pounded with a meat tenderizer for a few weeks straight it's so lumpy and horrible
- The window has to be propped open with a board
- The wiring is ancient and has no grounding on the wall sockets, and there are very few of them for even the T.V. and such

The room is also very very tiny ...

If it was a forty or lower price, the review would be different, but to pay sixty bucks for the above...?

Was there from 15 July 2011 to 17 July 2011 on a trip to Tahquamenon Falls with family. It is a quaint, small motel. The owners are very friendly and very accommodating. It was clean, quiet, and the absolute best value in the area. Endless hot water for showers and such. Would definitely recommend and will stay there again. This motel delivered on everything they said it was and that was expected from the stay there.

Room Tip: Book in advance.
