“Nice Relaxing Retreat from the Family Holiday Drama”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2010

We stayed here using our Marriott points for 5 nights during the Thanksgiving holiday. We had a king bed room. Upon arrival check-in was efficient and friendly. The room was a typical Marriott/Renaissance king bed room. Bathroom had a shower with no tub. The room was really clean and comfortable. Thermostat worked well to keep the cold out.

TV is a flat screen with HDTV programming. There is even one Japanese channel. There is a desk for your computer. Internet service is $6 per day but as extremely reliable and fast. I needed a good connection as I was working during the holidays. I travel a lot for business and paid internet is almost always faster and more reliable for doing work.

The hotel restaurant called the Toasted Oak is an outstanding restaurant. Its not your typical hotel restaurant. We loved it so much, we ate here for breakfast everyday. The Hamtramck Eggs Benedict was a pure delight. The homemade kielbasa was amazing! The eggs poached just right. One of the best hotel breakfasts that I have every had. Its a little pricey in the $10-ish range for breakfast. Did not have dinner at the Toasted Oak because we had family obligations. The restaurant also serves a traditional japanese breakfast.

The hotel staff made our stay extremely comfortable and it was nice to come to a place after all the family holiday stuff that occurs. The hotel was peaceful and right across the street from the 12 Oaks Mall.

The hotel has a fitness center with free weights, treadmills, and elliptical runners. The treadmills and elliptical runners have their own flat screen TV so that you can watch what you want. There is no swimming pool which is a minor flaw in the hotel.

We had the pleasure of spending several nights at this hotel in early August, '10, as our son's wedding was held there.
We found everything to our liking and satisfaction.
The room was excellent. Nicely appointed, and very comfortable.
The reception staff, the "Navigators," were the best. They were extremely helpful, and attended to our every request and need. They are likely the best group we have had the pleasure of dealing with.
And the location was terrific.
Based on our stay, we have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

I honestly wasn't sure what to expect with a completely suburban Renaissance property. I chose it because it was convenient to a business meeting and had some solid TA reviews.
From the moment I checked in, everything exceeded expectations. The lobby was packed with young professionals enjoying drinks and conversation. The decor is trendy elegant. The property put a lot of thought and money into making the hotel a trendy location.
Upon check-in, I was upgradted to an Executive Suite because of my Gold status. It was without question, the nicest hotel room I have stayed in. There was a separate living/dining area and bedroom. The dining area had a wet bar fully stocked with complimentary soda and water. The bedroom was large with a nice workspace and an electronic power station with 10 different chargers depending on your device. The bathroom was all marble with dual sinks, a jacuzzi and separate shower.
My rate came with a $20 dining credit and the on-site Toasted Oak restaurant was solid. It seemed to attract a large local clientele.
I have a wedding back in the Detroit area in February and will be staying again. I cannot wait!
And if you like shopping, Twelve Oaks mall is literally across the parking lot.

Family and out of town wedding guests stayed in the newly renovated rooms at the hotel following the wedding reception we had at the hotel. Not only did we receive many positive comments about the wedding reception, the guest were very pleased with the room accommodations. We heard great things about the decor and comfort of the rooms.

The Baronette Renaissance was beyond all our expectations, our Daughters Wedding. All the out of town guests stayed at the hotel. California to the East Coast. The rooms and service were exceptional. The Wedding coordinator - Megan White - was like having a personal wedding planner, perfect. The Wedding Reception was elegant with a lovely cocktail hour/ the outdoor patio was a great. The banquet coordinator went above and beyond. The variety of photo sites was wonderful.

The guests enjoyed The Toasted Oak Grill and Market during their stay. The hotel staff met our guests late night requests. Our guests range was Grand Parents to children.

I recommend The Baronette Renaissance. The entire experience from complete wedding planning to the ELEGANT WEDDING RECEPTION , was beyond ALL EXPECTATIONS!

I recently had my wedding here and can say that I was severely disappointed. I have mixed emotions about some of the reviews that RAVE about weddings that were top notch by bride/groom or by a guest of the wedding - feeling happy for weddings that went well, but bewildered at the lack of service during our wedding. Good things: hotel look, cleanliness is outstanding, some staff is extremely helpful. Bad things: the wedding/hotel coordinator was completely disinterested in our business evidenced by her "hiding" (lights out) in her office during our rehearsal, and then leaving while we were still on the premises, (to which one of the staff commented how rude and unprofessional her behavior was), being brusque when asked for the bill - she said rudely in front of our guests 'it's at the front desk' and pointed as if to direct a dog, an hors d'oeuvres tasting that was not representative of what we received on the actual day. During the reception - my husband and i having to run and find people to fix problems throughout the night. Nightmare. Too many details to list. Complained to the GM once regarding this woman - no apology, no explanation - just went to find her. Bad move on management's part. Sounds like some weddings went well here, but from my experience - I wouldn't want another couple to chance it here to end up with what happened to us. NOT WORTH IT TO RUIN A SPECIAL DAY. I'd recommend The Townsend, The Dearborn Inn (Marriott), even Marriott Centerpoint - all who having wedding packages that are similar.

This hotel was recently acquired by Marriott and underwent a complete renovation. The place is beautiful with a very homey feeling. The decor is excellent and tastefully done. The rooms are large & bright with many amenities including a Keurig single cup coffee maker with coffee, cocoa, and tea, a mini frig, and an in-room safe. The bathroom is also large with a good sized counter and a large stall shower. The king-sized bed was very comfortable with lots of pillows and a comfy duvet. One thing that we especially noticed was the quietness of the air conditioner. In addition, there was a great workout room with much equipment - all of it working!!! The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. A cute restaurant - The Toasted Oak - is on site along with a small store that sells wine, cheese, and other small items. If you buy a bottle of wine, they will charge a small corkage fee and serve it to you at dinner. Their wine is moderately priced, the theory being that you don't have to pay double or triple the price like most restaurants charge. We enjoyed their happy hour and small plates along with a bottle of wine. There are lots of outdoor places to sit and enjoy the sunshine and beautiful grounds. If you are in the area, this is the place to stay; It's convenient to a large shopping center (12 Oaks) and several smaller centers as well. We were super impressed with the hotel!
