“Cozy and modern B&B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2012

My friend and I stayed here over the weekend and it honestly pained me to turn in my key at the end of our stay. We stayed in the orange room, which has it's own private veranda. The room itself was modern and clean. Hope and Joyce did a great job of explaining all of the room provisions (i.e. Netflix tv, how to properly lock and unlock sliding door, etc.). Hope made sure we knew how to reach her after hours, should anything need her attention.

I loved the Four Seasons room located in the back of the house. It had a very comfortable couch in front of a fireplace. It was great to have access to this room, as our actual room was more for just sleeping. The bathroom was clean and the linens were comfy. The only thing that would have made our stay better, is if there were blankets to use. When we sat and had coffee on the veranda in the morning, it was a bit chilly and that's when we started to search for a blanket.

Other than that, we felt right at home. I cannot wait to come back ;)

Room Tip: If you stay on the first floor, you're more apt to hear footsteps above.

We really appreciate your review and thanks.

Noted your suggestion about outside blankets. Probably won't need them this weekend as it looks like we will be back in the 90's. Lake Michigan water temps will be comfortable for swimming early this year.

Hope we can give you another room key soon.

We booked a two night stay at the Lake Country Inn along with two other couples over Memorial weekend. We arrived early, and they allowed us to check in since the room was available. They have a parking lot on site, which is very convenient. The layout is great, we had the orchid room, which was quite spacious and spotlessley clean, as was the rest of the Inn. The rooms are exactly as pictured on the site, with nice decor uncluttered by unnecessary objects. The bed was very comfortable and the crisp white linens were of excellent quality. I was a bit surprised by the tiny size of the flatscreen TV (monitor?) in the room, since it is so far from the bed due to the long rectangular shape of the room, but we were not there to watch TV, so it was not a problem. We also had free wireless internet access. The bathroom was spacious, we always had hot water, the towels were bright white and soft, and the included H2O bath amenities smelled great. The inn is located within convenient walking distance to everything you need - restaurants, shopping, the Lake, etc. The construction is solid, you hear no sounds from people walking in the hallway or up the stairs, although you can hear some live music in the evenings due to the close proximity to some local establishments. This did not bother us at all. There is a great covered porch with adirondak chairs in the back of the inn that the 6 of us used a few times to hang out and enjoy our breakfast in the mornings and some wine in the evening. We even ordered excellent take out food from the Italian Restaurtant across the street (Brewsters Italian Cafe), and brought it back to the deck to eat. There is also a separate building with TV, table, couches that can be used to gather families together, and another patio with a table for eating outside. We did not even get to use this room because the deck was so nice. The continental breakfast was yummy - delicious fresh muffins from a local bakery plus hand fruit, Starbucks coffee and juices. The fridge is stocked with water and juice, and you can put your own items in there as well. We had lunch at the Stray Dog Cafe and would recommend that as well. Great selection of draft beers and a great back room with huge screened windows, and a rooftop deck. The LC Inn owners live nearby, and Mark stopped by on his bike and greeted us a couple of times during our stay. Each room is temperature controlled, and ours was fine. It was a heatwave weekend, and our friends in another room had trouble with their AC and spent their second night sweating it out with the system blowing hot air. Although they did not call the owner during the night to report it, they mentioned their frustration and discomfort the next day, and he graciously apologized for their troubles, and offered to discount that evening's stay. It was handled professionally. If we ever have the occasion to be in this area in the future, we would stay here again without a doubt!

Room Tip: Some rooms have a private porch which is nice, but all are equally great with vibrant paint colors.

Thanks so much for your review. I am sure it will help future guests know what to expect from our property prior to a visit.

We tracked down a rouge switch in the lower level as the cause of the AC issue. Also, while it looks older, the building was built new in 2005 and that is why it has such a solid feel.

Enjoyed having your group--- it was fun.

Great experience. The inn is very clean and beautifully decorated. Staff was courteous and friendly. The location is great about a 5 minute walk to lake Michigan. We will surely stay here again.

Room Tip: there is no pool. I accidentally hit the wrong button and it won't let me de-select

This is a wonderful inn. Very clean, staff was nice and helpful. Close to shops and the beach. Local restaurants and bars are great and within walking distance of inn. Very impressed with our room and the decor! Could not ask for a better place to stay and price was reasonable.

The interiors are absolutely gorgeous. Each room looks like a magazine layout from House Beautiful. We extended our stay because we liked the accomodations so much. Thank you to Mark, Hope and Toni. We will definitely be back in the near future.

Room Tip: Each room is unique and beautiful.

I enjoyed every minute of my stay here. The Inn was everything that I had hoped for & much more. Having such high quality bedding (Ralph Lauren) & furniture & gorgeous tumble tile in the bathroom made me feel pampered & very lucky that I had found such a gem. Not to mention the Innkeepers & their staff, which were fabulous! Every room is just as nice as the next but I ended up choosing the Blue Room & I loved it!! Their four seasons room (which is very spacious) was great for sitting in front of the fireplace or opening the sliding glass doors (depending on the weather) & just relaxing. The Marina & beach, just a few blocks away, also makes this place a great get-a-way. But if you want some excitement just drive 12-15 min to Four Winds Casino. If you like to shop, drive 5 more min to Lighthouse Premium Outlet Mall. I would recommend Cafe Elite for lunch across from the Mall for lunch (chicken salad is wonderful-a local favorite). If you would like a great dinner, filling yet a great value, go to Skip's restaurant in New Buffalo, MI.(which by the way, was recommended to me by Mark, one of the Innkeepers). On Friday & Saturday night they have a Prime Rib & seafood buffet which also includes dessert (how can you beat that!?!) I just can't say enough about how wonderful my stay was at Lake Country Inn. Thanks to Mark & Hope & their great staff, I had a wonderful vacation! I would be back there next week, but my boss would kill me!!

The Lake Country Inn provided the perfect spot to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We found the warmly furnished and well decorated accommodations to be very comfortable and inviting. We felt immediately at home without any cares. The overall layout of the Inn allows privacy while affording the opportunity to socialize on the back porch. This wonderful Inn is CLEAN, as in immaculate. Every detail has been addressed from the top quality bedding to the extra fluffy bath towels. No aspect of quality has been neglected. Close to shops and the entire range of restaurants, the beautiful lakeshore beach; it's all here. A great value -- Highly recommended for a relaxing, comfortable stay. The Lake County Inn is gracefully styled, tastefully appointed, very quiet, CLEAN, and the staff is top rate. We can't wait to return.

Room Tip: The rooms in the front of the Inn have nice, secluded balconies for entertaining, refreshments and e...
