Ok, let me start this review by saying that there are many benefits of choosing this over the sister property, Harbor Grand. We stayed in a one-bedroom overlooking the marina. The room is fantastic. If you are planning on spending alot of your time in your room, you may want to stay here. There is a full kitchen. The bathroom is huge. The balcony is nice, as well.
~Harbor Grand has rooms facing the marina, but they do not have balconies.

This property also houses the restaurant (Brentwood's) and a small cafe for treats and coffee drinks as well as water and other food items. For us, the restaurant was a great advantage for this stay beause we wanted to be close to the restaurant, since the restaurant at the Harbor Grand is Italian and has no gluten free, vegetarian options! :( Next time, we will just drive down to Brentwood's from Harbor Grand.

Why choose Harbor Grand?
~Their swimming pool is 100x better!
~They include a nice packed breakfast delivered to your door in the morning!
~The rooms are cozier, and get darker in the evening for sleeping! Somehow the decor of Marina Grand is very nautical and modern in comparison.

Why choose Marina Grand?
~Closer to the docks.
~Houses the fabulous restaurant!
~More space for families, including the kitchen and living areas are separate.

Still a nice place to stay with family! Thank you!

Stayed at the Marina Grand in the loft suite. The room is roomy, with a kitchen, dinning area, big master bedroom with a huge bathroom, a powder room, and a loft with 2 twin beds. The room has a great view of the boat harbor and a good-sized balcony that you can access from the living room or master bedroom. The living room has a gas fireplace, too. We stay in New Buffalo a few times each summer as we are from nearby Chicago, but this was our first time at this establishment. While we were there, the lobby was under renovation, but the construction guys were very nice and tried hard to stay out of everyone's way. The front desk area was temporarily set up in a side area, but the young man who checked us in was friendly. In the lobby there is a small coffee shop with free drip coffee anytime and specialty drinks and baked goods, plus bottles of wine and such for sale. I stayed here with my husband and 2 teenagers. My husband and daughter used the complimentary bikes to bike around New Buffalo and my son and I tried both the indoor pool and outdoor pool. People have commented on here about the long walks in this resort, and that is true...but if you're in shape, it is no big deal, but for someone with disabilities or problems walking, I'd request a room by the elevators. The resort is kind-of U-shaped and it is large, the elevators are on either side...our room was in the middle of the 3rd floor, so it was quite a walk, but I was okay with it. The restaurant is on the 1st floor and has a nice outdoor area. We only had appetizers there, but they were good and the menu looked nice. There is a nice observation deck on the 3rd floor where we sat watching the sunset with wine. My teenagers deemed this place "swag"...they really liked the loft area and the decor, which was causal chic, Ikea-ish Scandinavian Modern, that worked well with the harbor view. The kitchen was well-stocked with utensils, plates, cookware, dishwasher, stove...but there is no ice maker or ice cube trays in the freezer, and the ice maker in the hallway on the 3rd floor was being replaced, but that was no big deal, either. They have 24 hour Ben & Jerry's deliveries to your room, that is cute. I love boats, so it was so beautiful at night with the boat lights and sounds...we kept the windows open to hear the harbor noise and we were comfortable with the ceiling fan on. The room is spacious and very nice. My only complaint has nothing to do with the resort, my son and I encountered a few annoying people at the pool, 2 couples that were obnoxious, talking about everyone at the resort and swearing and talking about how much money they have. They were like 40 year old cast-offs from "The Jersey Shore", but what do you do? Everyone else was friendly. I'd go back in a heartbeat, and for a longer stay.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 3rd floor have the best view. Ask for a room near the elevator if you have trouble wal...

Hotel is beautiful with awesome views of the water. Staff was great recommending 2nd floor since we have 2 small boys and there is nothing to keep them in the patio on 1st floor and water is just steps away. Pool was nice but we kept getting locked out because the room key would not work to get back in, which seemed to be a problem for several people because others tried to help us. Price was a little much for us but we were desperate at the time.

My wife and I spent one night at this resort because it was close to the booked up Four Winds Casino. I was nice. Modern, very clean, and the people were very service oriented. All of the rooms looked over the marina with only a few glimpses of Lake Michigan from the roof deck. One problem, this 3 story hotel only has two elevators that are very far apart. If you are on an upper floor you may be in for a very long walk. Do I think it was worth the pricey room rate? No!

Room Tip: Try to get a room on a lower floor unless you dont mind the walking

2nd visit to the Marina Grand. This time the amenities are a little better, and the Bentwood Tavern does not disappoint. The staff is very friendly and accomodating.
