“Fab food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2014

We didn't actually stay here but ate in the restaurant several times, while renting in the village for 3 months. We were never disappointed. The staff are helpful and friendly and the food is absolutely delicious. Out of the high season they offer 2 set menus with limited choices but there is generally something for everyone. In the summer season there is a full a la carte menu with the added bonus of a table outside on the terrace. The food is reasonably priced and there is a good selection of local wines available at a decent price.

A warm welcome on arrival to this elegant country house set in lovely gardens offset the tired decor and uncertain taste in colour scheme and choice of wrought iron furnishings. That being said, don't let that put you off booking: its proximity to Pezenas, quiet large rooms, lovely garden with plenty of seating areas, welcome pool and tennis court make it worth booking. If you add to that the nice staff and unexpectedly good cooking - we had an excellent and generous proportioned dinner (and we are foodies!) - the rather needed refurbishment could be overlooked. I would be happy to return.

We stayed at this hotel for four nights at the beginning of July and soon began to fall in love with it. Initially, I was a bit worried I might have booked us into somewhere a bit to remote, but once we understood what was going on we were fine. If you don't fancy eating at the hotel restaurant there is a small pizza place near by (fantastic pizzas) and opposite it a little bar that shuts at about 8.00pm.

If you want to take your car out in the evening then Pezanas is near by and there are loads of places to eat there.

The hotel is very peaceful and I loved being by the swimming pool - it was baking hot during our stay. This also meant the rooms were very hot and there is no air-con. We were also on the third floor and if we were to stay again I would request a room on the second floor. It's a bit of a hike getting cases up the stairs!

We found the staff to be friendly and would happily stay again if we were in the area.
Parking was secure and free.

Room Tip: Depending on fitness and amount of luggage, I would suggest the second floor.

Just returned from a 1 night Groupon deal which included overnight double room, gourmand dinner for 2, breakfast, use of the tennis courts and swimming pool..... great hotel, friendly staff, comfortable and clean. Beautiful old building, free secure parking in lovely location in pretty village.
Food was good - dinner particularly nice with 4 course meal in the garden terrace.
Good value and friendly team made this a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: Room 103 is very nice

We booked this hotel because of its high grading in the Logis de France Guide and the good English language reviews on Tripadvisor. On the plus side - it was very clean but we were very disappointed by too many aspects of our stay. However, we appreciate that for some people it would be an excellent hotel. So, if you would reply "true" to any of the following statements then this is your kind of hotel.

I am happy with toilets that do not flush properly.
I am happy that the temperature of my shower fluctuates depending on whether other guests are also using hot water.
I am happy with very poor communication from the waitress and Maitre d' concerning the dinner menu.
I have a very poor and insensitive palate and I am delighted that the chef is the same.
I want to take a photograph of the food and boast to my friends at home (they are as ignorant of good food as I am).

Enjoy …

Overnight stop (near Beziers) on the way home and we struck very lucky. We had a huge room with bathroom to match. Room & breakfast for two cost us 141 euro and dinner, though costly, was very special. Secure parking cost an extra 5 euro per night. It's an elegant old house, full of history and charmingly restored with pleasant gardens and swimming pool. Peaceful and relaxing with some nice personal touches.

  • Liked — Elegant and tranquille
  • Disliked — No sitting area apart from the reception and restaurant

Fantastic place. Ideally located just outside Pezanas (historic village) and very close to the beach. Easy to find. Swimming pool and tennis courts. Nice room and clean bathroom. Very quiet although there is a major construction development going on at the far end of the village - too far away to hear any noise but there was a little construction traffic during the daytime but not enough to put you off the hotel.

The breakfast was good (buffet style) and the evening meal was excellent quality - although not cheap. The owners were very helpful and were happy to recommend good local wine and food during the evening meal.

We had no complaints and would definitely visit again - even if just for the restaurant food !

Private parking is in a locked area at the rear of the hotel at an extra cost of 10 Euros a day or you could park on the road outside the hotel.
