“Wonderful Manor House hotel.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2011

A small manor house hotel, just outside Avranches, La Ramade offers clean, tastefully furnished rooms and excellent service. Breakfast, which is very good, costs 11 euros (not bad by French standards!). There is ample free parking on site. The hotel is conveniently located for outings to Mont St-Michel and lower Normandy; and don't miss the collection of Mt. Saint-Michel manuscripts in the museum in Avranches.

..............Our only regret is that we could stay for just one night on this occasion. The rooms are themed with us staying in the 'Amaryllis' suite. Enjoying breakfast in the conservatory and overlooking the magnificant grounds was sheer joy. Furnished in what we believe is typical old Normandy/Brittany style, it really is charm personified. Staff were friendly, extremely professional and very welcoming. It is spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and certainly the most unique and wonderful hotel we have ever had the pleasure of staying in. The added bonus is of course that it is surrounded by some of the best countryside in France and only about a twenty minute drive from the imposing Le Mont Ste. Michel. We really cannot recommend this more highly and will certainly return as soon as possible for a longer stay.

I stayed here for 1 night with my husband, 3 children (aged 4 months, almost 2 years, 3.5 years) and my mother. We specifically picked this hotel because it offers a building outside the hotel to stay in which we could all stay together.

The accommodation was very stylish and luxurious and the landlady was very gracious and helpful. There is a lovely bar area inside the hotel and the bright breakfast room is very nice. Unfortunately we got to Avranches on a Sunday afternoon and everywhere was closed for food and the hotel doesn't offer any. However the landlady gave me some cheese which was very nice of her - cost 5.50 for a plate of various cheeses.

Would be good if there a little more food on offer in the hotel - even snacks. Alsoaccommodation was quite expensive and not within walking distance of the town. Apart from that though we really enjoyed our stay in La Ramade and I would definitely recommend to others.

Room Tip: Outside building lovely & great outdoor area

Myself and my husband have just returned from a five night stay in this lovely hotel. The owner was very helpful and pleasant. The location is ideal for visiting Mont St Michel and the surrounding area. We stayed in the Iris room which was very spacious and light with three windows plus a window in the bathroom which is unusual in a lot of hotels. Breakfast is served in the conservatory and offered a good selection of local produce. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and will be returning and will want the Iris room again.

We stayed for oner night and wished we were staying longer. If you are in the area of Avranches this is the one to choose. It's set in its own beautiful grounds with lots of secluded outdoor seating.
Madam has decorated everywhere tastfully with an eye for detail. The house has a serene feel as does Madam herself, definitely french chic. We slept in the 'Iris" room which is on the corner of the building with three windows plus a bathroom window. The bathroom is of a good size with an excellent shower.
Breakfast is taken in the light and airy conservertory with a good selection of fare . The bread is fresh which Monseuir has fetched from the local bolongerie on his bycycle.
Good luck for the future Veronique

When we pulled in the driveway we breathed a sigh of relief. What a beautiful building, we went up the steps to be met by a very welcoming Veronique. She took us up the stairs, no lift, to see our exquisite rooms, truly delightful with all amenities, spacious and beautiful views over the expansive gardens. She assisted with a suggestion for dining which was fantastic, Le Tripot. In the morning we had a delightful breakfast in a glass atrium dining room. You could fault anything here, a wonderful experience altogether.

Room Tip: It's only small get in quick
