“Homely, welcoming and comfortable!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

My Little French House is a home away from home in the gorgeous village of Monflanquin ideally situated to explore the Dordonge region to the north and the Lot Valley to the south. The house has fabulous street appeal and is stylishly and attractively furnished to ensure maximum comfort. The owner, Sallie, is attentive to the needs of her guests, providing excellent information and prompt and comprehensive responses to questions and enquiries in a friendly and enthusiastic manner. The house occupies a prime location in the village and provides a wonderful home base from where it is easy to explore (by car) some of the most attractive areas of France. For a small community, Monflanquin also boasts a surprisingly wide and varied range of good restaurants, although My Little French House is also superbly equipped for self-catering. Highly recommended.

What a chariming, traditional Bastide house in this exquisite village blooming with flower baskets.
It is well situated, central to the main square and all the cafe's and restaurants. The house has great style with all the home comforts including comfortable beds, soap, wine, magazines, tasteful decor- like being a house guest without the hostess. All in a working village where the markets are weekly and there is a sense of being a local. A memorable experience for us, one we certainlr recommend.

As we approached the town of Monflanquin, seeing it in the distance, I was feeling so excited at the prospect of being able to spend an entire week immersed in the French way of life! What an unbelievable place, we have certainly stepped back in time. There is so much that is as it was back in the fourteen century. Sallie (the owner) has been renovating but still maintaining the originality of her 'Little French House'. The house has several levels….a basement where the heating is housed….this is accessed by a steep set of timber stairs. The ground floor level has the entrance, a separate sitting room and laundry, the next level is reached by a narrow marble staircase. It features the kitchen, an open living area with couches and a dining table, also a bathroom with a toilet. The next level which is reached via a timber spiral staircase, is where the two bedrooms are. There is also another bathroom. And in behind a doorway near the stairs is an unexpected second toilet. This 'home' away from home provides everything you need to be very comfortable. Sallie has created an atmosphere in which you can truly relax. Want to experience an authentic French village? Then the town of Monflanquin which is perched proudly on a hill offering amazing views will not disappoint.

A fantastic week spent in this beautiful village. Perfect accommodation- located in a great position. Sallie was amazingly helpful with great suggestions for eating ( tried all of them) and other villages to visit. Definitely recommend for an amazing French experience.

Everything about our stay was exactly as described including the payment and access arrangements. The house was perfect for two couples and the restaurants as good as Sallie stated. The parking wasn't even as tricky as we had been told.

We just spent a week in My Little French House in Monflanquin. It was a great experience. The house which is on three levels is wonderfully presented with a real French provincial feel. The house is well decorated and it really feels like’ home’, while convincing you that you really are in one of the Most Beautiful Villages of France and living like the local residents.

The entry level has a separate sitting area and a washing machine and dryer. The Lounge room is roomy and comfortable and the Kitchen, also on the second level, is well equipped. The House has all of the equipment and facilities you could need. It was very helpful to find a few staples like sugar, tea, oil and so on provided so you could be self-sufficient on arrival.

The bedrooms are charming and in the mornings the open shutters allow in light and air. We had perfect weather and we felt really comfortable in the house: we wished it was OUR little French house. There are two bathrooms, so the property is suitable for two couple or a family. For a small additional fee you can access an excellent broadband connection.

At first we though Monflanquin a little quite but we soon realised there is a vibrant local community of both French and expatriate residents who are so friendly. The Thursday market is a great experience and we were lucky enough to be there for the night markets as well when everyone gathers in the square and buys food and drinks from the stalls.

The surrounding area is a great part of France. In summer there are vineyards and fields of wheat and sunflowers. The Dordogne is close by and there are many small villages to explore. Monpazier, another of the Most Beautiful Villages in France is a short drive away. Sarlat is further afield (about 80 kms) but well worth the trip. Monflanquin is accessible from Bordeaux or Bergerac airports.

Our dealings with Sallie (who is the fortunate owner) were so easy. It was great for us to be able to make all the arrangements in Australia but I am sure there would be no difficulties for those from other countries.

We would recommend My Little French House to anyone wanting to spend a fantastic week or two in a marvellous part of France.

We stayed in "My little French house" for seven nights. The house is beautifully decorated, very clean and is in a lovely location. There is even a selection of cooking ingredients you need to cook for yourself. However the village of Montflanquin has many little restaurants which are very good. There are many places to visit in the area if you have a car. Sally the owner was very accommodating and helpful. A great base to see the area.
