Oh boy, where do we begin?
As seasoned travellers we booked a 5 day break with Mme Roberts (Ann) at her Chateau to celebrate our honeymoon and as a base to discover the Bordeaux wine area, we chose very well! the chateau is jaw droppingly superb, Ann is a fabulous host; you will be made to feel very special! The chateau has been amazingly and tastefully restored.
Booking was easy as Ann is English so there was no language barrier. Upon arrival we were greeted with a complimentary bottle of champagne on the terrace, and Ann gave us information on local restaurants and points of interest which was really helpful and interesting.
We stayed in both rooms, upgrading to the master suite after a couple of days and we can recommend both as they are stunning, spotless and very comfortable, if you are travelling with children then the master suite is the room that offers the space for additional beds.
The master suite is a romantic, stunning suite and offers brilliant value (see our photos).
Our five glorious days as guests of Ann and Chateau Bavolier passed too quickly and we look forward to revisiting with our children next summer.
Local towns are Bourg (a lovely medieval town on the Gironde) and Blaye which boasts a great fort or catadelle with a hotel and village inside! and also has a ferry across to the Medoc, Pauillac and Margaux regions.
A trip to Chateau Bavolier and this region is a must.
