What a delight. Perfect for us as we are not touristy type people although we are interested in how the world works. Booked from the website as we knew where we wanted to start our Bordeaux experience from but had no idea of how etc. The hosts - Les and Chlarissa and Jules were very welcoming, warm, friendly and full of interesting information re the region. As the title indicates we were only going to stay for two nights and move on - no idea where to. Everything we needed was readily available. The tours were great and we felt privileged to be there for the five nights. Thank you from Bronwyn, John and Tom Martin. PS if there is anything you want to know about Bordeaux wines (and I suspect other refions as well) then Les is the man to ask - what he doesn't know he is willing to research and let you know.

We stayed at Villa St. Simon 4 nights in late July to see the Tour de France. We arrived just in time for the nightly wine tasting. The room was very comfortable - - there is no air conditioning, but there are 2 big windows and it stayed reasonably cool.
The big added-value is the host Les and his manager, Julien. Both are great - - they gave us advice, helped with directions and a strategy to avoid the crowds. Each evening they host a wine tasting in the cellar which was informative and fun. Les took us on a wine tasting tour of St. Emilion - - an excellent day. Julien even fixed us up with a couple bicycles to tour the area.
They also have a well-stocked cellar of very good affordable wines that you can purchase to consume there and / or at dinner. They have an arrangement with several of the local restaurants and you don't get charged a corkage fee.
We had a great time and would happily return.

Villa St Simon is a great place to stay with hosts with the most. The building is charming and the rooms are likewise. Les, Jules and Clarissa were most helpful. On our first night after being picked up at the airport we were invited to play boules - with food and wine - over in the Park. It was a great way to get to know the other guests. Food and wind - more than plenty! - went down well. Breakfasts were good - the coffee excellent and what more could you want than warm French bread and croissans to die for! I don't often recommend places to stay to other people but this one I would. Blaye is lovely little town and Villa St Simon adds value. If you want good wine, a comfy bed and good company go there.

We were thrilled to have found such a perfect establishment that could not have been more perfectly suited to our ideal of bliss. The warm reception we recieved from the host, Les and man of the moment Jules ;-) to the lovely interesting multicultural guests, St Simon attracts. Our hosts passion and knowledge of the vine, interesting and amusing daily wine tastings, last but not least our thanks to St Simon's resident Angel Clarissa . We would recommend St Simon to all 2CV and wine enthusiasts and all lovers of conversation.

Once in a lifetime you will tumble over a jewel so precious that you do not want to share it with others. However, this is a jewel that must be shared. Not because I want to. If it was up to me, I would keep it to myself and enjoy its beauty as often as I could.
But in respect of the owner and staff at Villa St. Simon Bed & Breakfast in Blaye, France, I must see my own preferences set aside and tell the world of this jewel.
After travelling the world for more than 37 years and staying at more or less reputable hotels, this small B & B is at the very top of my list over places I would recommend most warmly to my friends. From the second you check in at the B & B and are greeted by the devoted staff, you are destined to have the greatest experience of your life. Les devotion to wine, Joules devotion to its guests and not to forget Clarissa and B’s joyfulness will make you leave your everyday worries on the doorstep of the B & B.
Although I would hate to share my jewel with the rest of the world, I plead you to experience the last hotel in the world which will make you stomach ace with laughter and your pallet enjoy the most exquisite wines presented by one of the most knowledgably person I’ve ever encountered.
Thank you so much for giving me the pleasure to enjoy the company of a tremendous staff and a most enjoyable group of guests this summer in Blaye. You all made our summer vacation the best ever.

Les and his team made our stay, perfect for keen wine tourists. They were able to provide detailed and excellent advice on all aspects of the area. There are a number for good restaurants nearby at very reasonable prices. The in house cellar was neat and we joined other guests there each night. Les has a big selection of wine in house which you can buy on an honesty system.

We stayed in La Cone which is a big and lovely room (a suite really) and is the only one with aircon. We needed this on hot nights and it was noisy – we overcame this with earplugs.

Les lives next door and makes the whole building available for use including the Kitchen. This was great as you could always find anything you needed. He took a group of us on a tour to the left bank and we finished with a picnic in the park across the road and petanque to 1am in the morning. The other guests tended to be like minded, terrific fun and we hadn’t laughed so much in years.

I would recommend St Simon highly in all aspects if you love wine and good friendly company and want a lovley base to experience the Bordeaux area whilst staying out of the city.

We stayed here on 17 June and consider ourselves very lucky to have found such a wonderful, comfortable and friendly place to stop over, that also accepts dogs.

We would recommend St Simon to all our friends and hope tostay there again in the future. A special thank you to "B", as the title says "Staff make all the difference".
