“Best meal & service ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2011

Our server was the best we've ever had and the meal was the finest! One of us was on a very restricted diet and the server accommodated us perfectly. Our filet was perfectly done and the perch was sweet and delicious. We will be driving in from Grand Rapids often to eat here. Thank you, D, for the best service and food!

“Can easily see why this is rated #1 in Muskegon!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2011

I have never looked at how the restaurants in my own hometown are rated. I am not surprised that The Hearthstone is rated first. We have eaten at this place for years. It's one of our favorites. A nice quiet place to talk or do business.
My husband and I both enjoy their steak. It's always tender and seasoned perfectly. The fish is another great choice. It's lightly battered. If you would like something a little lighter to eat, the onion soup is a favorite with my husband. I like their cheese soup with a topping of popcorn. Ask for a sample of their soup if you aren't quite sure if you will like it. They are very good about giving you a small taste before ordering. Leave enough room for their awesome desserts!
The owners added an outside seating area that is open during the summer. You wouldn't think it would be a good location for outdoor seating, but it is very nice. They even provide heaters if the evening is a little chilly for you. Nice fireplace for the winter months. Our lunch group of friends enjoy sitting around the fireplace.
We usually eat at The Hearthstone at least once or twice a month and have never had a bad meal in all the years we have been there.

“Casual atmosphere--serious food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2011

Visiting in the area, we took a chance and were very pleasantly surprised--this place is terrific! Ambience is very welcoming and friendly--the servers combine hospitality with outstanding knowledge of the dishes and preparation. The 'straw & hay' appetizer is tasty and fun; so were the kettle chips and garlic dip. My wife loved the lobster & shrimp agnolotti, and the house special Wienerschnitzel is the best thing this side of the Danube. If you know wine, so does this place--excellent selection, excellent price range, relaxed guidance for a rookie like me. We don't rave about restaurants much, but this one was simply outstanding.

“Tasty food and warm, cozy atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2011

Ooooh, the soups are so good here! Fresh food and lots of it. There's a huge fireplace that is perfect for cold wintry days, and in the summer there's a nice outdoor eating space. A wide variety of menu items.

“Always Great Food and Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2011

The soups here are the best anywhere! They also have an almond crusted perch that's delicious. They have a large variety of choices and price points, and the food is reliably great. The wait staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself is a little outdated looking, but the food is so good it doesn't matter! It's a little hard to get to, but well worth the effort.
