Owner description: Modra spilja (The Blue Cave), located in a small cove of Balun on the island of Biševo. The cave itself is 24 meters long, 10–12 meters deep and up to 15 meters high, while the entrance to it measures 1.5 meters high and 2.5 meters wide.In the year 1884. baron Eugene von Ransonnet described and depicted it. On his suggestion the entrance to the cave has been enlarged, making it this way accessible to the entire world. The cave has two entrances: the smaller one artificially widened and deepened so that the boat could sail through, and the wider one, located at the southern part of the cave – the underwater passage, through which the magical game of the light and water is performed…Depending on the season, the ideal moment to visit the cave is between 9 and 13 o’clock in the morning.

“Nice and eery, but not too spectacular”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2013

The blue cave has a nice feel to it, but I wouldn´t recommend it for claustrophobics. The entrance is very low and you have to duck in the boat. The blue light is very beautiful though, and I enjoyed the experience.

“It's blue all right!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

On seeing the entrance to the Blue Cave we didn't know how our boat was going to get through - the dinghies coming out were tiny and we were on a much bigger one! We had to crouch right down into the boat to avoid being decapitated as we edged through the narrow entrance, but once in, we could sit normally and appreciate this wonderful phenomenom. So quiet and still, eeriely calm and so beautiful. The blue was intense and rumour has it that this cave is even more spectacular than the one on Capri, so definitely worth a visit. Great fun!!

“nice experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

Well, it is definately a must see if you are in Vis, price of 40 croatia kuna per person and 100 kuna for transfer is a bit much in my opinion, but definately a must see. No swimming but photos alowed and very beuatiful scenery and the cave is nice. Suvenirs apon returning to shore not worth the asking money.

“Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

Some info:
1. The shortest boat ride to Bisevo is from Komiza.
2. The tours don't run every day - it depends on the weather/waves/wind, and they make the call the morning of. So cross your fingers.
3. All of the boats to Bisevo leave Komiza around 10am, so you get to the cave at 11am - this is the time of day that it is "Blue."
4. There are boats that go to Bisevo, let you tour the Blue Cave in a smaller boat, and then bring you right back to Komiza (around noon). There are also boats that take you from the Blue Cave to a beach on Bisevo and bring you back to Komiza at 4 or 5pm. Cost isn't much different for the second one, so it just depends on how much time you want to spend over there on the other island.
5. The Blue Cave is a fun experience. You get about 10 minutes inside, while your boat makes a little circle around the cave. We went to the one in Capri a few years ago, and this one was equally cool, maybe even a bit larger.
6. No one was swimming in the cave while we were there.

“A couple of tips for Blue Caves”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

If you have access to your own boat, head to the Blue Cave very early. I used to do 6am trips to the cave. By being so early you avoid the crowds, avoid the fee and avoid the rules stating "no swimming / no photos". In other words, you have freedom. This is one part of the world you want to swim and take photos. Exceptional experience.
