“Warm hospitality in a beautiful setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

We stayed at the end of May/start of June and Tatijana and Allan's hospitality and well designed, comfortable rooms made up for the cloudy, disappointing weather. As I have zero Croatian, it was a relief to find that Tatijana speaks fluent English. She is generous with the lovely space she has created, so you can treat the kitchen and living area as your own and store food in the fridge if you want to have breakfast there. Located at the Kut end of Vis Town, there is an excellent bar/pizzeria around the corner with lovely views of the bay and the bakery and a supermarket are 2 mins away. If you're breakfasting at Villa Vis, the bakery's marmalade croissants are hard to beat. The beds were large and very comfortable and it's a quiet spot in a back street so you can sleep well. We'll be back another year, just later in the season to stand a better chance of good weather.

Room Tip: If you struggle with stairs ask for a room on the first floor so you don't have to make it two f...

My wife and I recently returned from 4 glorious nights at Villa Vis and can't recommend it highly enough! Tatjiana was the perfect host - from the fresh fruit and cookies on the table to her helpful tips on the best local beaches, restaurants, etc. We felt right at home from the get go and having access to the beautiful kitchen was a real plus. Our room (the "chocolate room") was lovely and the bathroom was especially gorgeous. By far the nicest room we had on our 2 week vacation. The location is also perfect, just steps from several nice restaurants/cafes, the bakery, supermarket, fruit market, ice cream shop, and a tourist office where you can rent bikes or scooters (which I highly recommend doing while in Vis, by the way!). We had a fabulous stay at Villa Vis and can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: I'm sure all the rooms are great but if you like a nice bathroom/shower, you can't go wrong...

We were thrilled with our stay at Villa Vis. Tatiana and Allan were amazing hosts - warm and friendly and helpful. The room was big and well-designed, and the bed was by far the most comfortable one we slept on during our entire trip. Having access to the beautiful kitchen was great. We really hope to be back someday, and would stay at Villa Vis again in a heartbeat.

My husband and I stayed at beautiful Villa Vis for 4 nights, on our honeymoon in September - and couldn't recommend it highly enough. Tatjana's warmth and hospitality spreads throughout, and it feels more like staying at a friends beautiful home than anything else. The rooms are spacious and stylishly decorated, and its location in Vis Town is perfect, and in one of the best parts of the island as far as we could see. We really hope to go back one day.

We have had the pleasure of staying at Villa Vis for four nights. Tatjana (the owner) has done an amazing job so that we could feel like that we were at our own place. She is really polite and it's so easy to see that she has put her soul into this place. The rooms are very modern and big. Huge bathrooms, a lot of space in the bedroom which also has AC.

There is a very big chicken where you can save your own food. The chicken has everything you need, you can even make your own coffee.

Tatjana speaks fluently English, German and Croatian. She gave us a lot of recommendations like where we should eat local food, where we should travel to like the scooter trip around the island to beautiful small places and even called to different places and made a booking.

Thanks to Tatjana, we have had a very nice time during our stay. If we return back to Vis one day, we will definitely stay at Villa Vis!!

By the way.. On our way to the island Whar she helped us by calling a friend, who took us there with his boat. That saved us for more than half of a day (otherwise we had to take the Public transport).

Thank you so much and we can easily recommend this place!

Vis is gorgeous. And Villa Vis is the place to stay. Mamma Nada is great and so must be her daughter Tatjana. Rooms are nicely furnished and AC was just installed. When we arrived AC was not there yet...once Mamma Nada realized she bought five fans the next day.The villa is 1 minute from the port and sea. The house feels like home and the kitchen can be used. Make sure you check out the different rooms online, some are slightly bigger, but all are nice.

Mamma Nada also sets up inexpensive fresh grilled fish dinners at a friend's house with unlimited wine. You can have breakfast at home or go to the Hotel San Giorgio where it is dirt cheap. Mamma Nada will make coffee and lemon water all day long. Rent bikes and go around the island.

The day before our departure Mamma Nada made pancakes...hmmm...yummy.

ENJOY!

Room Tip: check out the rooms online...they are all a bit different...

Villa Vis is located in the town of Kut which is part of Vis Town. First off, I recommend staying in Vis Town as opposed to Komiza. Komiza is great and definitely worth a day trip on the scooter, but Vis is where I'd want to be. The Villa is well run by the owners German parents. They don't speak English, but do a good job and almost all is understood. They baked german pastries which we ate up in the mornings. Delicious! The location is opposite a wonderful courtyard with café's and music, bakeries, supermarket and pretty much right on the water! What more could you ask for? The rooms are modern and super clean and ours opened up right on to the cobblestone back entrance so we had our own access for greater privacy. The décor was great, bed was very comfortable, but sometimes it gets hot in the summer with no AC. To be fair, it doesn't seem like many places have AC, but that is slowly changing. I would definitely recommend Villa Vis and the wonderful Island of Vis to anyone. Great stay!

Dear Batchelorboy

Thank you for taking the time to review Villa Vis Croatia and our beautiful island.
We are very pleased to know that you had a great time in Vis and a pleasant stay at Villa Vis. I must apologize that you didn´t have the comfort of an AC. You may be interested to learn that we had them installed on July 9th, 2012 in every room. They were planned for next year, but the unexpected early heat this season made us act immediately. I hope the pastries didn´t leave a too big of an impact on your weight :-)

Once again thank you for your review and we hope you had great time during the remainder of your trip through Croatia.
