“interesting place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2014

difficult to find by road as they are building a new road on another place as before. There is a nice story going with these hot wells, being considered as 7 tears. Not nice to see, but interesting to find out that these wells never dry up and give differend temperatures of water all the time. Very kind people. When you ask, they allow you to take pictures.

“No longer worth visiting”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2014

I visited the hot spring many years ago and was horrified by the changes. The grounds are poorly maintained with trash strewn everywhere. The wells do not look particularly clean either, so our party did not go in. What was especially sad was that the wells have lost the spiritual, almost magical feel they had previously.

The enormous military presence, like everywhere in the Trincomalee area certainly does not help. On our way to the wells, we were stopped at a check point. A soldier asked to ride with us to the wells. He might have been getting a ride quite simply. I certainly was not comfortable having an armed soldier in the same vehicle as my sleeping three-year old. But, you can hardly refuse when an armed man in uniform asks you for a ride, can you? The hot wells are full of soldiers too, ordering people around at the ticket counters and being generally very rude. Quite unpleasant.

“Hot Springs”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2014

The springs are actually square wells holding the hot water at different temperatures ( all very hot) we were lucky to get in before a tour group of school boys who went a little crazy once they felt the water. It is very slippery so be careful as you remove your shoes before entering the enclosure. Worth a quick visit but if you have limited time it is something you can miss.

“Too many people….”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2014

this place is a local attraction. you can see lot of local people and westerners here. There are 7 small ponds which is filled with hot water. It is said that these never go out of water.
We say all the people taking bath here and it was crowded. There is a queue to avail the bucket and it also has an entrance fee of 50 Srilankan Rupee.
