“Nice location, rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2012

First night in Nepal! Lumbini is where Buddha was born
Our hotel was a 10 minute walk to see this place, but saw lots of locals, which added to the experience
Room was lovely - but I was ill and room too warm so slept on balcony.
That was a lovely experience, nevertheless
Food was expensive
Service excellent and hotel looks impressive

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

Stayed two nights and enjoyed the reasonably clean room. The highlight was the shower, with great water pressure and plenty of hot, hot water. The food was bland and uninspired, which is disappointing given South Asia's usually lively cuisine. We found a nearby restaurant as an alternative. There are of course the standard power outages and "blue-outs" on the TV, but they don't last long. The housekeepers can be stingy with towels and amenities, but when you ask for more, they give. There was a lot of early morning noise, with a tour group up early for departure, but you can't blame the hotel for this. Overall, this is a decent place to stay.

Stayed for 2 nights while visiting Lumbini Garden on a pilgrimage. No great expectations; just a place to shower and sleep. Pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff and service. Room is good with hot shower.

Wi Fi connectivity is very good in the hotel lobby and restaurant.

Good rooms - comfy beds and hot water. Only big problem was mosquitos - lots and lots especially in bathroom. 5 - 10 min walk to the main site in Lumbini.

I wont come back here!!!! Found the room musty and the damp smelling. I may have not minded as much if I had not be given the expectation that it was a 4 star hotel by the local agent. I had obviously paid for a much better facility. The only positive was that the staff are generally friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: None as stay was too short.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2011

I have just spent seven days at the Buddha Maya Garden Hotel and loved every minute of it. Any one who doesn't like this lovely place with very friendly staff and excellent service in essentially the middle of nowhere is either a curmudgeon or doesn't know anything about traveling in the more remote areas of South Asia.
Is it a five-star in the middle of Kathmandu or Delhi? Of course not! but it is way more that "acceptable." Consider where you are. This is the Nepal Terai, geographically indistinguishable from Northern Bihar except for a artificial line on the map. A vast flat land of mostly rice growing agriculturalists. No one comes here to bask in the sun and visit the spas. The only real purpose is to visit the temple (now archaeological museum) of the place of Siddhartha Gotama (the -Buddha-to-be)'s birth. and occasionally to visit come other less major Buddhist sites that are in the region. The hotel is very clean, the food, Indian, Chinese and Western is very good and clean. The AC in your room works just fine. The shower water, while not scalding is plenty hot enough for a good shower (I had seven of them and it worked every time). The electricity may flicker off for a minute or two but, thanks to two generators on the property, comes back on almost immediately (I never had to use my flashlight which I always carry when traveling in S. Asia).
The most important thing is the staff! they are there to make sure you have a wonderful experience at Lumbini. They arranged a car for me, the helped me with information and locations of places I wanted to visit, and introduced me to local people that I wanted to meet.
I has a fabulous time and accomplished all the area site visits I wanted to do even though it was the rainy (Monsoon) season.
