Spent one night at the hotel in mid-January. The generator was below our room and ran for hours and hours at a time. The noise completely did my head in. It kicked on in the early morning hours and drove me nuts. Also, the generator powered everything from the tv to the outlets, which is really just a waste of energy. In Nepal we all learn to live without power a little. They should definitely invest in some clean solar energy or an inverter and power just the lights. Also, for some reason the generator didn't power the water pump and we were without water most of the morning. (A time you really need to flush the toliet.) We were told there was a hot shower but at the three times I checked it was ice cold for minutes and minutes. Staff was ok, not really friendly but also not rude. You get the feeling they aren't really bothered at all that you are staying there. The room seemed nice enough but in the middle of the night we did have a problem with bug bites from the bed or blanket. And the toilet made all these crazy noises. We checked out first thing in the morning and found a different hotel. My suggestion to them is to have a top sheet or duvet over the blankets so you can maintain more cleanliness and ditch the generator!
