“The closest thing to home!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

Although my family and I stayed at Krishna's House for a short time, I feel confident in recommending it to anyone wanting to visit Kathmandu Valley. Ajaya and his lovely family own and run this charming property, welcoming all guests wholeheartedly with true Nepali hospitality. Krishna's House is conveniently situated, being only a short walk away from the town. Rest assured, this family will treat you like their own. The rooms are simple; but also clean, secure and spacious with a great view. The breakfast is delicious, homely and generous - kindly cooked by Soneta, Ajaya's wife - and incorporates local Nepali products. Ajaya really took the time to talk to us, informing us of local culture, offering advice on places to visit and organised our transport. Staying here was a great change from busy hotels.

A big thank you to Ajaya and family - we hope to be visiting Krishna's House again in the near future!

Room Tip: The rooms separate from the main house building have a gorgeous view.

We would like to thank the family of guesthouse Krishna for the very pleasant stay.
Good accommodation, good location (few minutes from the noisy center), nice beds, warm welcome, warm shower, relaxing places with a lot of books/information about Nepal, great breakfast. That's all you need for an excellent stay!
We highly recommend this place!!!

Stayed here for 4 days with my wife during the Nepalese new year and would come back again. We got a spacious room at an old villa with windows overlooking a bit of fields and folks going about their lives outside. Bakhtapur itself is full of traditions, and the family of Ajaya (the owner/manager) shares in the great tradition of this town. He's a great source of information and travel tips across Nepal, also very helpful in arranging transportation to nearby towns. We couldnt thank Ajaya, his wife and family enough for being such lovely hosts, keeping our rooms tidy and our stomach filled with large and tasty breakfasts. There's also a little library of travel books and brochures are the breakfast area.

The place is in a quiet community, about 10-min walk to Durbar square of Bakhatapur. This was perfect for us because we wanted quiet nights and to awake to the sound of birds.

I´m glad I started my Nepal trip staying at Krishna House in Bhaktapur! Ajaya and his family received me with a very warm welcome. I inmediately felt at home. Ajaya was also very helpful in recomending me places to visit in Bhaktapur and around Kathmandu.
The main reason I came to Nepal was to go trekking in the Himalayan Mountains. As Ajaya also owns a trekking agency (Marco Polo) he offered to organize a personalised trek for me. This turned out to be best choice! He did the whole paper work for me (insurance, trekking permits etc) and a day later I was on my way with Angtu Rai, my trekking guide, to Pokhara. From there we started our 6 day trek to Ghorepani. Dhanyabaad Angtu!!! It was one of the best personal experiences ever. When I come back we´ll do the Mount Everest trek :)
Thank you for everything! Selina

In short, this is what a bed and breakfast should be all about - a warm and informative welcome, comfortable, clean rooms, and a great, hearty breakfast. Ajaya is really knowledgeable about Bhaktapur and other tourist routes of Nepal. He advised us on the main sights of Bhaktapur and took us on a morning walk up the hill, and he also helped us with recommending other hotels in other parts of Nepal (e.g. Nagarkot, Bandipur, Pokhara) and bus tickets. Ajaya also made sure we were as comfortable as possible, providing us with lamps for power outages, letting us wash our clothes and use the family's clothes lines, and always making sure that we could access the wifi. It is located outside of Bhaktapur's Durbar Square which made it a really quiet area, making for a good night's sleep. I'd highly recommend staying at Krishna's House for a nice, homely stay, and/or if you want some help planning the rest of your travels in Nepal.

Ajaya was a very hospitable and helpful host. His home is situated in an ideal spot for visiting the wonderful city of Bhaktapur. Our room was very comfortable and the breakfasts were very good.
Ajaya is full of information and will give you all the help and advice you need to enjoy your stay in this wonderful location away from the crowds and bustle of khatmandu.
Bhaktapur is a great place to visit and to explore the valley.
Altogether a great place to stay and a lovely family.
