It is 13th century temple constructed by King Narasimhadeva of Eastern Ganga Dynasty and the entire temple complex takes the form of Chariot of Surya , the Sun god and is heavily decorated with stone carvings having 12 pairs of exquisitely decorated wheels.
It is a must see place. One of the finest temples of India and is also very well maintained. The surroundings of the temple and the adjoining areas too are very good,
You feel satisfied after visiting this place.

“Konark - A Marvel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

Bhubaneshwar ,Odisha is a must visit for those who appreciate ancient architecture. Structure’s that are dated 11th century and beyond are engineering marvels. Once could spend hours studying the intricate carvings on rock structures. Konark Sun Temple is located in Konark in Odisha , a 70 Km from Bhubaneshwar .The Sun Temple, built in the thirteenth century, was conceived as a gigantic chariot of the Sun God, with twelve pairs of exquisitely ornamented wheels pulled by seven horses the structure is massive with breathtaking carvings. Being a popular tourist destination there are restaurants serving good food but cannot expect fancy ambience. A guide could be hired if you are interested in knowing the rich heritage of this wonderful structure

“Architectural Beauty at its best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

Located in a small town of Konark in Odisha which is approximately 65 Km from Bhubaneshwar and approximately 35 km from Puri.

The magnificent Temple was built in 13th century. It is in a shape of a chariot with 7 horses and 24 wheels.
The body of the temple is decorated heavily with minutely designed stone carvings.

The temple is about 4 Km away from Chandrabhaga beach.

This is a must visit for anyone visiting Odisha and for those who are interested in architecture.

“brilliant architecture but a guide is must!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

I visited konark sun temple in Novenber, there was an average crowd there. we took a Guide there, by going some bargains and all, we gave him Rs 120 which is worth it.
the places has very deep meaning inside it, some of the stories are overwhelming and there is also a temple of Chaya Devi in one corner of the ground, She is mythological mother of Shani Dev and second life of Surya Dev!!
want to mention , many few people know about that

it cause goosebumps after listening to the story of the the temple and by seeing partially damaged statues!! that how Britishers want to destruct the glory of India!!

Must go!!
