“A delightful haven among the green splendour of Graskop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

Well'run guest house, with clean, spacious chalets that allow for self-catering. Wonderful provision of fire places and wood, if you feel chilly in the cool mountain air. Well-kept gardens and a good nourishing breakfast (if ordered), also add to the charm of this place. Ideally situated for viewing the Blyde River Canyon, and the magnificent waterfalls in the area. Wendel Hough runs the place very well, and organizes activities for the adventurous. He has a wealth of experience in wildlife, as a photographer and former Kruger Park ranger. Four of us stayed two nights and we had no complaints whatsoever. Highly recommended, and good value for this area.

I have been here in November. I only stayed one night but it was all worth it. the lodge was very big and it was well spacious for just 2 people, with a very large kitchen, big double bedroom, sofa bed and fireplace! The outside of the lodge is very well maintained with nice lawn and walking paths. If you dont like the place, at least im sure you will like it for the very close location to a couple of waterfalls and the famous site of GOD`s Window.

Summary: Value for money. Lovely hosts, well maintained lodges and close to attractions! What do you want more?

Very nice apartment 5 mins away from Graskop center and God's window. Fully equipped with top quality finishings, clean and well maintained. Very friendly owner and even more friendly resident dog!. Fireplace in the sitting room for the cooler evenings, a nice patio on the back.

We are a family of 4: 2 adults + 2 kids ages 16.5 and 18 and spent 4 days touring the Krugar Park area in Aug 2021. We travel every year abroad, so have much experience and I never write reviews. But, Wendel, the owner and the guide, simply is the best of the best of the best, so I must share this with the world. As a guide, he is very experienced, there is nothing that he does not know, whether it be nature, history, geography, any subject, he explains everything very clearly in an interesting and informative manner. Not just as a guide, his chalets are very comfty. Wendel was not only our guide, but our driver, and we took full board, so he was in charge of our meals too. We have strict eating restrictions, and Wendel went out of his way to provide us the the proper food for us at all times. His service went the extra mile, even helping us at the Police Station to get a form. So for those of you planning a trip to the Krugar Park area, look no further. You will thank me every day.

Room Tip: Suitable for everyone - no stairs and spacious, so good for invalids too.

Lovely lodge close to the attractions of the area.
Pros: Large garden, lovely hot water, serviced daily, beautiful area, excellent service and advice from owner.
Cons: Large and cold, no homely feeling.
Furniture in sitting room uncomfortable.
Not enough cutlery ( one serving spoon, one knife)
No firewood provided for fireplace.
Small heater in bedroom hardly heated the large room.
Cable TV available, but no sport and also difficult to utilitize as there is no guide for channels available.

Room Tip: Don't book main house as the bbq area is situated behind the house alongside the carport(other l...

Very nice place! The lodges have a lot space, are well equiped for self accomodation and are perfectly clean. They serve a really good breakfast too if you wish. Like everywhere in Soutafrica you have a possibility for a barbecue. It is the perfect place to visit all existing tourist attractions in the area and the Kruger Park is not far away. You can even walk to one of the waterfalls.

This is a wonderful place to stay. The accomodation is in spacious well equiped self catering suits with kitchen, bathroom and lounge with fireplace and TV. Outside there's a patio with braai and extensive grounds (ideal for kids). If you wish a generous breakfast is also available on request. The location of the Lodge is ideal for visiting all the attractions in the Blyde River Canyon and is a few minutes drive from Graskop's restaurants, including Harries pancake house. The owner is friendly and helpful and can also arrange hikes, safari's. Well worth a visit.
