Just out of the sleepy little town of Graskop one begins a journey into a magnificent landscape that actually comes as quite a surprise. First up, 4 kilometres from the town, turn sharp right and view the Pinnacle, a monolith standing proud above a river and surrounded by lush green vegetation. Don't hang around too long because the best us yet to come. Exit the Pinnacle, turn right and head for God's Window, a few more kilo's up the road. Do not be put off by the steps, the effort is well worth it! There are a few viewpoints take them all in! Do go up through the rain forest and cross the quaint (very safe) footbridges, the view from the top, South-east toward Kruger Park and Mozambique is worth the effort. Afterwards, turn right once more and head for the Lisbon Falls and later the Berlin Falls, both magnificent in their own right. Carry on toward Ohrigstad and enter the large facility containing the famous Bourke's Luck Potholes. Walk down toward the water and cross the little bridges to get the best view if these magnificent natural wonders. Here the Blyde and Treur rivers meet and form natural maelstroms forming the potholes. Once this has been taken in the best is yet to come - the Blyde River Canyon and the 3 Rondawels. Words cannot do justice to the awesome beauty. Allow 5 - 6 hours. Entrance to all sights is R10.00 ($1.00) except the potholes which is R80.00 ($8.00).
