Stayed for 3 nights at this lodge in Sep 2010, with husband. First a niggle that dogged us throughout our Namibia holiday - no double beds! I guess you are meant to be more interested in the wildlife than in snuggling up with your significant other, but of the 10 hotels on our hols, only 4 had double, rather than twin beds, and of those 4, 3 were "town" hotels. Anyway....not quite what you might expect if you're on honeymoon - which we weren't. Never mind, Etosha Aoba is a lovely lodge - small, welcoming, personal service, nicely done, rustic rooms and game roaming through camp (some magnificent kudu, in particular, and my husband found a pair of dik diks sleeping under the loungers outside our room!). We had some wonderful game viewing in Etosha and the nice thing is that this lodge is about as close as you can be to the Von Lindequist Gate (although it's still a 13km drive from the gate, to the actual camp). We did go on a sundowner drive from the lodge, inside their own (still very large) game area with a good, friendly, and informative guide - reasonably priced and good fun. The food was fine considering the location, although the fact we were eating outside on coolish breezy evenings on cold plates did mean that it was all rather cold and all the meat was well done - which to this lover of rare steak seemed rather a waste of good game. Even our guide was suggesting, which seemed eminently sensible, that when guests check in they should be asked how they like their meat cooked, which shouldn't be too hard for the kitchen to arrange (there are only 10 rooms/20 people at any one time). Can the lodge please take note? I would be happy to go back there.

Very close to the Lindequist gate of Etosha National park, 20 min drive to the gate. Very nice setting at the edge of Fishers pan. Excellent food, great service, Fantastic value for money. Great host, very good service personnel, superb wine list (and the prices are very, very moderate), gorgeous tours into Etosha with great sightings. We would love to come back any time!
The rooms are not brand new renovated, but very nice, including outdoor showers. Blackberry reception! Mainly German guests.

This is definitely our kind of place to stay in the bush - comfortable and friendly without being stupidly lavish. The rooms were very acceptable with comfortable beds with good bed linen and plenty of hot water. Pieter and Julie are delightful and welcoming hosts and the food is wonderful if rather too much. Their staff are also a real pleasure to meet. The proximity to the Lindquest Gate is perfect making a visit to the National Park very easy. There is also plenty of game to be seen within their own fences. We would recommend this place to anyone except those who want 5 star luxury - and they shouldn't be in the bush anyway.

The gate to the hotel was right by Etosha National Park, but onoce through you had to drive about 20km to the hotel. The owner/manager was extremely friendly and the bungalows were located in a woodland setting and all looked really pretty and inviting. The restauarnt area was located around the swimming pool and fire pits with a flood lit water hole easily seen from your table. The food was of good quality and tasty and pretty good value. The game drive was fun, with some game seen, but the addition of a 'bush bar' set up on the back of the Land Rover to watch the sun set was great - gin and tonics, softdrinks, beers etc all available in 'darkest Africa'!!!
The room was smallish but picturesque, with A/C and an outdoor shower. No TV.The bed was comfortable and clean. The only problem I had was that I hate spiders and the area around the bungalows was rife with webs, some quite thick around stones or holes under the concrete. The open thatch in the room also had plenty of webs - I did spray one spider I found, but was not inclined to spray too much in case I woke up hidden spiders (out of site , out of mind). The only saving grace was that there was a mosquito net which I tide tightly around the bed to stop any creepy crawlies from invading my sleep.
An idyllic hotel and location, which is great if you don't mind spiders.

Etosha Aoba Lodge is a quiet and interesting place to visit. The lodge is about 30 minutes off the main road to Etosha Park -- so about 40 minutes to Etosha. The lapa is beautiful, the food is very good, the staff is professional, the chalets are comfortable and everything works! The hosts are welcoming and attentive.
