“Great charlets”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013 via mobile

The sleeping bungalows are great! Neat and spacious there is a bath and shower. Aircon and a nice seat just outside your door - private....oh, and a outside shower! (It was to cold for us to use the shower though...) the walkways need some attention...but overall we enjoyed the one night stay. In the evenings there is dinner and then some...their barnfire is awesome! Just remember to take your camera along....I did not! Well, my hubby 's cellphone did the trick! Will post the picture later. Again just one black rhino at the waterhole as the drought is taking its toll.

Only stayed here for two nights but didn't have any complaints, the bush chalet was lovely (very spacious) with a really nice modern bathroom and for the adventurous an outside shower if you fancied being at one with nature. (Also 2 inside showers) Comfortable beds and a fridge, so couldn't ask for any more from the rooms. The resident waterhole of this camp is not productive like Okaukuejo or Halali, but the surrounds are pretty promising. We met a very hefty elephant on the Ngobib loop. We could not turn around. We had to drive backwards for over 100 meters. Kalkheuvel is great. We ate at the restaurant in the morning and evening (beautiful setting) the diner on the second night was a disappointment (tough meat). Resuming: I don't really understand the other reviewers who haven't given this place better reviews as we thought it was great.

Room facilities looked impressive but was somewhat on the tired side. All in all the general upkeep of the camp is a testimony to bad management. Can only endorse what so many reviews say about the staff. During breakfast - a sad affair compared to the other two camps - we were left to our own devices with no staff around. In future will rather stay in the numerous well run lodges outside etosha and do day visits.

stayed here april 2012. The fort is a nice tough.
Nice pool. The camping site has had its best time. There's electricity but you have to look out for a place were it works.
Still a nice place to stay... pretty green and although also quite busy it still had a peacefull and quiet atmosphere.

Having read the reviews for all three Etosha NWR camps, this is the one we looked forward to with some concern. But what we found was not an accurate reflection of recent reviews. Our room was recently refreshed, light spacious, well furnished and in a quiet part of the camp. The common areas were a little run down but we found the outdoor dining area completely to our taste during the balmy April evenings. The food was average but the service was friendly, helpful and efficient. The best part was the fauna a large variety of birds, reptiles and mammals large and small, he Namutoni end of Etosha did not disappoint.

We had a delux bush chalet room which was large, very clean an airy. Secluded too. I loved the fort and layout. Overall the resort is a bit tired and the walkways and main areas need a reprint. The food was quite average and the other Etosha Resorts were better. Staff very nice, helpful and friendly. If we did the trip again, we would probably stop here for lunch and carry on. Water hole viewing very difficult due to the distance and greenery. Great view from top of fort across Etosha. Pool looks very old and no one in it.

On first sight it looks all very nice and beautiful. We had the impression that NWR is neglecting the place. There needs to be done a lot of reparations and maintenance as well in the rooms (it was hard labor to close the window, the gate was impossible to close) as on the wooden pathways where you had to watch out where to put your feet.
Their restaurant is rather small. Luckily we came quite early for dinner, otherwise we had to sit outside where the tables at night are only lit with a small candle and you can't see what you're eating. Same in the morning for breakfast, we prefered to sit inside rather than in the cold outside. Food they serve is ok but service could be more friendly.
Luckily there are some superb waterholes and the dik dik drive nearby (where we spotted dik diks in the morning), to theirs are hardly coming animals.
