“An affordable camp just out Etosha”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

We stayed at Etosha Village for 3 nights in June. Etosha Village is a lovely camp a few kilometres south of the Andersson Gate.

Our tent was spacious and comfortable with an outside bathroom and braai/kitchen area. The kitchen is fully equipped with a sink and a fridge and you can collect a box on arrival full of cutlery, crockery and kitchen utensils if you want to self cater.

We ate at the buffet once and there was a good selection of meat – we enjoyed the zebra and kudo. The restaurant starts to serve breakfast very early in the morning so it is possible to eat breakfast and still be at the Andersson Gate before it opens. There is also a fire drum in the middle of the restaurant which helps to keep you warm on the cold winter mornings. The bar serves a good selection of beer and wine at reasonable prices.

Etosha Village is very good value for money.

We stayed at this camp for 3 nights after a 3 night stay at Mushara Bush Camp. This is obviously a completely different experience, but my review will compare these two camps and highlight some of the contrasts. The tents were definitely not as luxurious but certainly had everything we needed. Cleaning services had to be requested at the front desk, which we didn't realize until the next day. The staff was friendly and helpful. We were surprised to find air conditioning (not available at Mushara) in the room area, although ours didn't work properly. The shower and toilets were outside and a little bit of an adventure, for sure. There was a great outdoor space with a grill and refrigerator, however, we didn't use it as much as we ate from buffet with all meals. Note - no hair dryers available in the rooms or to borrow at the front desk, however they did offer to borrow from the manager's wife! It wasn't that critical, but if you need it, may need to bring your own! We had 2 game drives with a really nice spread of coffee and cookies in the morning during a stop halfway through the drive in a secure picnic area. The food overall was good, and we especially enjoyed the bar area - nice to gather around after a day, and they even showed pictures taken by fellow guests on the big screen tv. Lots of fun! The prices were extremely reasonable as well (for alcoholic beverages) and we were overall satisfied with the camp. Our group included 3 kids and they absolutely loved the food and the experience of an outdoor shower!

Etosha Village is one of the favourite stops on our tour through namibia.. They are well situated for access to Etosha Pan, can arrange organised tours with ease, as are most accommodating for groups. The ' tents' were fantastic, with each affording it's occupants a sense of privacy, and luxury. The grounds are a delight to explore, and the food exceptional... Well worth a return visit for sure!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here in 2011 for 2 days and loved it, so this time we returned for 5 days, and the place is as awesome as ever.

The place is super easy to find.
Upon checkin we were welcomed with an ice cold complimentary welcome drink. Much appreciated after the long hot road from Windhoek. Checkin itself was quick and friendly.

The rooms are clean and comfortable. Sure this isn't 5 star, but the prices reflect that, and overall you feel that you get more than you've paid for. All rooms have aircon to keep the heat at bay, and the bush style shower has PLENTY of hot water. Also the beds are very comfortable, not something that can be taken for granted always. The outside area has a braai, small stove, kettle and basin if you want to do self catering.

The public areas are superb. Free wifi in reception, free coffee, tea and rusks 24H a day, 3 sparkling pools of different sizes, immaculate gardens, 3 different eating areas and a well stocked and reasonably priced bar. There's also a small but well stocked shop if you need any basics or want to buy fresh food to cook at your room.

The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and the food is all top quality, fresh and yummy! The meals were some of the best we experienced while in Namibia.

Lastly, the staff: You can tell that a place is well run when everybody is always smiling, always ready to help, always greets and always makes you feel welcome. From the barman Johannes to the manager Mr Vosloo and EVERYBODY inbetween, we have only praise and compliments. Thank you for making out stay such a pleasure.

We WILL be back, many times!

The service was superb at every level. The food was great. The concern of the staff over their patrons was topnotch. However, I did not like the "luxury tent". It was very very small. It was very dark, with only two openable windows and poor lighting, (as opposed to perhaps 10 tent windows in the property owned by the same group by the Namib Desert). I could not use their electric outlets, even though I had the right type pins, Worst of all, the toilet and shower were outdoors, not subject to heat or A/C. It was cold at night while i was there: about 45 degrees Fahrenheit. Now, this is okay if advertised as such, but the word "luxury" does not convey "unheated" to me. All in all, it was fine for a night, but I would have changed venues if it had been longer.

Dear NJ-Eric,
Thank you for your feedback and compliments to our service! We are pleased that you enjoyed the food. We do advertise extensively that we offer canvas bedrooms with a unique open-air bathroom – Understandably this is not for everybody.

Friendly efficient staff. Simple but GREAT breakfast buffet and the dinner buffet a must have. If tranquility, peace and quiet is what you are looking for, this is the place to go. Just disappointed that we didn't get to see 'Spotty'.
