Description: For over 100 years, Schuler's Restaurant & Pub has kept it in the family - and beaten the odds. How rare is this achievement? According to Family Business Review more than 30 percent of all family-owned businesses survive into the second generation. Twelve percent will still be viable into the third generation, with three percent of all family businesses operating at the fourth-generation level and beyond. Schuler's, a four-generation, family-owned restaurant in Marshall, Michigan is an institution. Schuler's attributes its longevity to the foresight of our founder and the succeeding family members who have used their entrepreneurial skills to build a 100-year tradition of hospitality and fine dining.

“Things didn't start out too good but ended fine.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2014

We were in the area and Schuler's was recommended to us as "THE" dinner spot. As we waited to be seated an "apparent" hostess said, "Follow Me". We did, directly to a "Beverage Work Station". She turned and acted surprised we were there. My wife said, "You told us to follow you and we did." Her response, "I can't believe I said that." She did. Nothing more than that. We returned to the hostess station and didn't get as much as "Sorry about that!" We were seated by a REAL Hostess this time and got a great waitress named Dawn. Now, on to our dinner. My wife had the Sea Scallops and I the Prime Rib. She made the better choice. Nothing wrong with my choice other than there wasn't anything special about it. Especially, the price..... The best part of the meal was the Lump Crab Cake appetizer we shared and the pre-meal Bread.

The ambiance was nice but overall I said it was slightly overpriced. Others may think differently.

“good food and setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2014

This place has a strong German décor, somewhat like Frankenmuth but understated. The lights get lowered during the dinner period which is old-fashioned but nice. Servers were pleasant and efficient. Decent selection of entrees, no particular food "theme" but you can bring kids here; they'll find something to like. In fact there were several families with kids that evening but it never got real noisy. Desserts looked yummy but we were too full. Portion sizes are generous. The dining experience is not a speedy kind of thing but rather a "gracious pace" which we enjoyed.

“Always Pleasant”

Once again we enjoyed dining at Schuler's, which is always a wonderful experience. While it is very traditional, it offers up-to-date menu selections served by courteous, professional waitstaff.

“Local Institution”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

Schuler's has been a fixture in Marshall for more than 100 years and is still owned by the Schuler family.

Located in historic downtown Marshall, it is a good restaurant in a small town that draws visitors and locals. There's a put and main restaurant, and you can order both menus in both restaurant. The pub area has recently been remodeled to offer a larger seating area.

Try the prime rib.

“Pricey....but good”

Great place for special occasions; however, Winston's Pub attached to the restaurant is excellent!! Casual, reasonably priced, excellent burgers, amazing desserts!
