“Best in the Upper Peninsula”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2012

We stayed at the Landmark Inn on an impromptu trip to Marquette. The Landmark was restored and reopening about 12 years or 15 years agon and the lobby is stunning as are the pub and the main restaurant Capers and the lounge on the top floor with am lovely view of Lake Superior. The decor is very classic and nicely done. the rooms are pretty simple but nicely done. All of them are different which I think is such a nice touch. And many overlook the Lake and actually have windows that open! Unusual in a hotel these days. And nice on a summer morning to feel a cool lake breeze. The bathroom was great and the bed very comfy. We regretted not having eaten dinner at Capers when we saw the menu the next morning and the pub has an upstairs room that we never noticed before and you can write your order on a piece of paper and send it to the main bar on a zip line. How cool is that!!!! We SHOULD have stayed here instead of going out the night before! Everything was perfect. Just a wonderful hotel

Room Tip: Don't bother going downtown for dinner.....go to the pub or Capers and make sure to request a co...

We find ourselves in Marquette every few years, and we always stay at the Landmark. The hotel has such a nice look and feel about it. I like how the rooms are all decorated with a different theme. It is always fun to see which room you are going to get when you arrive. They are all different, but uniquely delightful. The staff is always very friendly, the beds and bedding comfortable, and the bathrooms clean and modern not like in some older hotels. It is situated in a great location. You can either walk to the harbor, or stroll the downtown area depending on your mood. There are some good restaurants and shops awaiting you just outside the door.

I stayed at this hotel for a friend's wedding over Memorial Day weekend. Here are a few things that pleasantly surprised me:
1) The hotel is absolutely gorgeous and a steal at $109/night. They really should charge more.
2) My room was light, airy and modern, but I could still open the windows (best of both worlds).
3) I did not encounter a ghost during the entire duration of my stay. I even hung out in the 6th floor bar with no sightings! (I was legitimately concerned about this.)
4) I'm still getting to know Marquette, but I deduced the hotel is located in the best part of town. It's within walking distance of downtown, the lake and a lot of great restaurants. It's far away from Walmart, Taco Bell and Target.
5) The staff was really friendly and fun. It was a pleasure interacting with them.

All in all, this hotel is a gem and by far the best one in Marquette.

Room Tip: If you have an active imagination/are afraid of the dark (like me), avoid staying on the 6th floor.

Wow, what a difference staying 'downtown' in Marquette, with a great view of Lake Superior, or staying out on route 41 on the concrete pads that masquerade for stylish motels. This place is historic, classy and personable with delicious food. You might pay a few more dollars for the hospitality, decor and personal service, but don't pass this place up! The only reason I gave them four instead of five stars was the greasy omelet this morning - but last night's pub food was fantastic - terrific whitefish from the lake and great service. The waitress this morning agreed the chef found the omelet unappetizing and took it off the bill. Great people, great rooms (ours was the Amelia Earhart room) and great location. Don't pass up walking the bike/hike path around the lake in the morning. Photograph the lighthouse from the sandy beach a couple minutes' walk away. You'll love it.

Room Tip: Spend a little more for a theme room. Might want to avoid rooms near the sixth floor martini bar - g...

This is my 4th time at this hotel. I have stayed in a regular room, king room, Presidential Suite and 2 room suite - so far my favorite is the 2 room suite - lots of room, fireplace etc and not much more then a regular room. The hotel is almost perfect each time but falls short with some sort of snafu or cleaning issue. Don't get me wrong, I love this hotel and will return every time I come up to Marquette. Much classier then the typical chains. Staff has always been friendly the the bar on the top floor is fantastic. Food is good and best of all - reasonable.
Walking distance to the lake, other restaurants, shops and so on. Get a two room suite and enjoy the ambiance and old world charm - you'll be glad you did.

Been to Marquette a number of times and the Landmark is the best place to stay and, in my opinion, has the best restaurant, Capers. Very old building totally refurbished, yet has the old world elegance to it. Stayed in a King room w/ jacuzzi. You also have to have a drink or dinner up on the 6th floor bar, Northland pub for a great view. Capers staff were very professional and the meal was as good as anything I've had in Milwaukee for the same price. Stayed at the other large chain hotels in the city and for roughly the same price you get a whole lot more hotel with the Landmark.

Good top floor bar. Good food. Uncomfortable beds. ServIce is poor for Midwest. Great location. Good breakfast room for meetings, etc.... Friendly bar tenders.

Will stay again bc choices limited.
