“Nice place.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2011

Even though it's old it's freshly or maybe constantly renovated. The hotel appeared modern on the inside. It has an elegant feel although the clientele appeared to be a mix of vacationers and business people.

Service was on par with any first class hotel with the exception that there was no bell captain. Everyone was friendly and courteous as would be expected in a hotel like this.

The hotel is in downtown Marquette. It's a short walk to the harbor, the downtown restaurants and night life.

The lake view room had a reasonable view of the lake. It was well appointed with the usual coffee maker mini-fridge and microwave. It was also supplied with a couple of bottles of local wine for a reasonable fee. We didn't partake.

The room itself was reasonably sized and appeared freshly renovated. The furnishings felt modern while looking period late 19th century.

The hotel has a restaurant, a bar off the lobby and an additional bar on the 6th floor. Both bars served food. My wife's mojito in the 6th floor bar was made with fresh crushed mint leaves, the way it's supposed to be made. We ate mostly bar food since the restaurant had Morton's prices but didn't seem to have the menu to support it.
The bar food was great. The fresh baked cakes were well worth the price. Breakfast was served in the restaurant and was reasonably priced. The waitstaff in all three restaurants was friendly and attentive.

The hotel had wi-fi and access to a health club.

Great historic property located in downtown Marquette. Our room was a suite with a view of the lake. There was lots of space and it was furnished with period reproduction pieces.

The restaurant breakfast was fantastic and the staff was very helpful in giving us walking directions and recommendations.

Convenient to Pictured Rocks Park, and much nicer than hotels availble in Munising.

Room Tip: Ask for lake view.

We stayed at the Landmark Inn in 2006 with friends, and liked it then. Our recent stay was even better! This old, historic hotel in the heart of Marquette, MI is an absolute gem. The rooms are comfortable, and many of them have themes. From the moment you enter the hotel, you realize it's something special. We also felt that the restaurants in the hotel had upped their game considerably, and had reduced their prices - especially the main restaurant for breakfast. Kudos to all of the staff who made us feel like welcomed guests.

I enjoyed the Landmark, although it was pricey (not sure how it compared with other options - find it hard to believe that a national chain hotel would be rated higher in Marquette). We had a nice room with a four-poster bed and vintage furniture. Everything worked and we had a great Thursday night in the Pub with live music.

Staff at the desk was nothing to write home about, which keeps this from getting 5/5.

Hello! My sisters and I chose to stay here for a night because of its history and beauty of being old. Unfortunately, at $160 per night, it was not worth it! It was nice enough, but really not worth that kind of money. Plus, there were wedding receptions when we stayed there and other guests were partying until 4:00am and kept us awake. I know the hotel can't control it, but it would have been nice to be told this when making the reservation, or even to have received a heart-felt apology when I politely notified them of the issue in the morning. The location is great, right downtown, and the riverwalk area is pretty, but overall there's not a lot to do in this town and the Inn is over priced.

We stayed at the Landmark Inn during July 4th weekend. The hotel was booked solid. The staff at check in and in the restaurants were very professional, courteous, and friendly. The room was spacious, clean, large bathroom. There was not a frig or microwave if that is important to you. Small lounge area on 6th floor with view of Lake Superior. Nice bartender! The exercise room was out of commission when we were there, and instead we were given a day pass to the work out center at Northern Michigan University, which was great. The hotel offers 10% off dining at any of the 3 restaurants located in the hotel. The breakfast was tasty, and similar in value/price to other downtown restaurants. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Treat yourself to a piece of Joe's Cakes, or one of his other desserts! They are out of this world!! The Landmark Inn is located in a great location, right downtown, and within walking distance of restaurants, shopping, the harbor, etc. I'd highly recommend the Landmark Inn as a great place to stay in Marquette!

We spent one night here on two-month driving trip around the US, and this is definitely one of the top five places we stayed. A clean, spacious, comfortable room; friendly and courteous service; delicious food at both dinner and breakfast. We would most certainly return. We left a coat in the closet which we didn't miss for several days. One call; housekeeping found it and mailed it home promptly.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of Lake Superior.
