“Cozy and Comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

Brigadoon is a charming and comfortable B&B located steps away from the ferry service to Mackinac Island. It is an easy walk to most of the cities restaurants, shops and pubs.

The rooms are clean and nicely decorated. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. Cookies and muffins are set out during the afternoon and dessert served in the evening. A very nice breakfast is also included with your stay. I would highly recommend and will return.

My wife and I had never stayed at a B&B and so we wanted to try Brigadoon B&B for our anniversary. Our first night we stayed in the "Captains quarters" which was a beautiful Victorian style room with fireplace, kitchenette, reading area and a turret room. I would say that a king size bed would have been made it perfect but overall a very nice room. Second night we stayed in the third floor room which had the bed that should have been in the captains quarters, fire place, clean bathroom, and a very nice view of Mackinaw Straights, it did get a little warm but opening the door a little bit did the trick. Since its on the third floor and heat rises its not trip breaker especially late in the season. The staff was exceptional and really what made our stay fantastic. Anna Marie and Dotline (Tootsbe Special :-)) took care of us and are very wonderful. They and the staff brought us cake, dessert, and never thought twice about it. As skbomaha stated and also the same for us both days we had an egg dish - Eggs Brigadoon and an egg & broccoli quiche, they were both done very well. Daily muffins and coffee are available as well. We did not make it back for dessert hour but when it was brought up to us it was really good. Downtown and Sheplers ferry service is only a block or two away, restaurants, shopping and Mackinaw Bridge museum inside a pizza joint are right there. Parking is a little tight if the B&B is full. If you don' want to stay at a hotel and will be treated well I highly suggest booking ahead of time and staying at the Brigadoon, we did see families there too.

Room Tip: Ask for Captains quarters you won't be sorry.

My husband surprised me for Christmas last year with a trip to Mackinac Island and we decided to spend 2 of our nights on the mainland - and chose the Brigadoon B&B.

We checked in on Wednesday 8/29 and stayed 2 nights. We were extremely happy with the Brigadoon in almost every respect.

Room - My husband requested Room 202 and this is indeed the room we stayed in. It was a nice sized room with both a sleeping area and a sitting/TV area. The bed was king sized and while a little firm, we both got good nights sleep on it. Our biggest complaint about the room was the temperature. Our room got REALLY REALLY warm quickly and easily. I went down both mornings to get a hot tea and the temperature difference between our room and the hallway was crazy! We did have a small balcony and could open the door to let the cool air in, but there is no screen door so it's just wide open for whatever to come in. We did leave it open the second night to make sleeping more comfortable. There are screens on the doors downstairs and the windows in the hallways, so there really should be screens on the balcony doors in the rooms. The bathroom was nice sized with a jacuzzi tub although we didn't use it. There is a hairdryer in a drawer if you need it.

Afternoon Snack - One of my favorite parts of this B&B is that they have fresh baked cookies (chocolate chip and chocolate chip pecan for us) and lemonade in the afternoons - a nice treat!

Evening Snack - Another favorite! Both nights we were there we had our dessert before we went for dinner! Lemon cheesecake and oatmeal pie were the evening snack while we were there and both were amazingly good!

Breakfast - My husband and I disagreed on breakfast. I thought it was fabulous! Both days we had an egg dish - Eggs Brigadoon and an egg & brocoli quiche. My husband does not like green chilis which he says were in both. I didn't think they were in the quiche though. I thought both were super yummy and just got some extra from his plate! The homemade cinnemon rolls and applesauce were great. We did see others request things, so if you're really picky or on a diet I suppose you could do this.

Check-Out - Was easy, but when we asked if they could hold our bags, it seemed like they had never been asked this before. Initially they said we could leave them by the checkout desk - which is right by the door, which I wasn't comfortable with. I know this is small town and a B&B, but things get stolen everywhere and leaving our bags right by the door didn't seem like a good idea. Next we were offered a staircase in the next room, which again I was a little nervous about, but my husband convinced me this was ok - and it was.

Room Tip: Ask if screen doors are in the rooms, specifically Room 202!

We stayed at Brigadoon for two nights. We had a room on the first floor with a queen bed. The room was beautiful and fit perfeclty with the feel of the city and island. The room had a fireplace, queen bed, and jacuzzi tub. The only item from the description that I thought was far fetched was that each room had a balcony (I guess ours was a small porch off the back side of the hotel, maybe used for smoking). Breakfast was good, they serve excellent cookies with tea, lemonade or coffee in the afternoon, and dessert at night. The staff was friendly and helped with everything we needed. Do remember that this is an old building, you will hear creeks and other guests but the owners do a great job keeping everyone comfortable and not defacing this beautiful location.

My husband and I came here to celebrate our 1st anniversary and it was great! Nice staff, excellent food, beautiful house and great location! Walking distance to everything in Mackinaw City and the ferry to the Island so it was very easy to keep busy. We used a b&b coupon, otherwise it would have been too pricey for us, though. Our only complaint was that the bed was pretty uncomfortable--very solid-feeling.

We were on our first visit to Mackinaw City (Michigan as a whole) and very much enjoyed our stay at the Brigadoon. The staff was exceptional and added that 'something special' to the stay with their attention to detail and kindness. The food was exceptional - beyond our expectation. Each morning we started out with a great cup of their own Bayview Blend coffee and then enjoyed a hot, gourmet breakfast. We looked forward to taking a break each afternoon to enjoy freshly baked cookies and drink. We skipped dessert each night at dinner so we would have room for whatever wonderful treat the staff had planned for dessert that night.

The staff was also very helpful in providing suggestions for local activities and dining. We especially enjoyed our dinner at Legs Inn (about 30 min drive from the B&B). The location along Lake Michigan was amazing and we enjoyed a wonderful meal on their outside dining area.

Without a doubt, we will look forward to staying at the Brigadoon the next time we are in the area and will highly recommend it to any friends or family visiting the area.

We loved the Brigadoon! It is beautiful, quiet, and perfectly located. The breakfasts were gourmet quality, and the afternoon snacks, and evening desserts were always a special treat. The staff is friendly and eager to be helpful. The Brigadoon is a bit pricey, but it was absolutely worth the splurge.

Room Tip: The second floor rooms have private balconies which are great to relax on, but the stairs are quite...
