My husband surprised me for Christmas last year with a trip to Mackinac Island and we decided to spend 2 of our nights on the mainland - and chose the Brigadoon B&B.
We checked in on Wednesday 8/29 and stayed 2 nights. We were extremely happy with the Brigadoon in almost every respect.
Room - My husband requested Room 202 and this is indeed the room we stayed in. It was a nice sized room with both a sleeping area and a sitting/TV area. The bed was king sized and while a little firm, we both got good nights sleep on it. Our biggest complaint about the room was the temperature. Our room got REALLY REALLY warm quickly and easily. I went down both mornings to get a hot tea and the temperature difference between our room and the hallway was crazy! We did have a small balcony and could open the door to let the cool air in, but there is no screen door so it's just wide open for whatever to come in. We did leave it open the second night to make sleeping more comfortable. There are screens on the doors downstairs and the windows in the hallways, so there really should be screens on the balcony doors in the rooms. The bathroom was nice sized with a jacuzzi tub although we didn't use it. There is a hairdryer in a drawer if you need it.
Afternoon Snack - One of my favorite parts of this B&B is that they have fresh baked cookies (chocolate chip and chocolate chip pecan for us) and lemonade in the afternoons - a nice treat!
Evening Snack - Another favorite! Both nights we were there we had our dessert before we went for dinner! Lemon cheesecake and oatmeal pie were the evening snack while we were there and both were amazingly good!
Breakfast - My husband and I disagreed on breakfast. I thought it was fabulous! Both days we had an egg dish - Eggs Brigadoon and an egg & brocoli quiche. My husband does not like green chilis which he says were in both. I didn't think they were in the quiche though. I thought both were super yummy and just got some extra from his plate! The homemade cinnemon rolls and applesauce were great. We did see others request things, so if you're really picky or on a diet I suppose you could do this.
Check-Out - Was easy, but when we asked if they could hold our bags, it seemed like they had never been asked this before. Initially they said we could leave them by the checkout desk - which is right by the door, which I wasn't comfortable with. I know this is small town and a B&B, but things get stolen everywhere and leaving our bags right by the door didn't seem like a good idea. Next we were offered a staircase in the next room, which again I was a little nervous about, but my husband convinced me this was ok - and it was.
