“Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

We loved the Brigadoon! It is beautiful, quiet, and perfectly located. The breakfasts were gourmet quality, and the afternoon snacks, and evening desserts were always a special treat. The staff is friendly and eager to be helpful. The Brigadoon is a bit pricey, but it was absolutely worth the splurge.

Room Tip: The second floor rooms have private balconies which are great to relax on, but the stairs are quite...

Went to Brigadoon B&B for our 25th anniversary. This was our first B&B ever. The house is beautiful outside including flowers and gardening (even had baby bunnies living under the bushes). The room was just as described. Large king size bed, sitting room with frig, micro, and 2 wine glasses and very large bathroom with jacuzzi tub. We were in room 101 - the basic and cheapest they offer. The front desk staff was very nice, friendly and helpful. (although could have had better knowledge of area restaurants when asked for recommendations.) The ladies in the kitchen were the BEST! Breakfast, cookies and dessert are out of this world! It was our anniversary but I think my husband would have married one for her cooking! LOL The oatmeal pie was to die for. The convenience of walking distance to shops, Sheplers Ferry, and beach was wonderful. A great weekend away!

Room Tip: We were off the lobby but there was no noise, you do hear the water when run above you, but not wort...

The rooms are large and clean. We had a large suite with large bathroom. Staff are exceptional! They were very friendly, but not intrusive. They served a good breakfast and wonderful dessert in the evening.

I stayed in Rm 301 and paid a premium rate. The house itself is beautiful. It is large and very visually appealing. When pulling up the first thing we saw was a worker outside wearing very tattered clothing, so it wasn't a great first impression. The bricks leading up the the office were not maintained and had weeds in between them. The lady behind the counter was very sweet and helpful. We had to climb up a lot of stairs to get to our room and found our room without AC turned on. With it being on the 3rd floor, it took a little while to cool down as it was just a small window air conditioner build into the wall. For the price of the room, I was not impressed. It did have a fireplace, jacuzzi, and private balcony. However, we saw two bugs on the bed, the smoke detector was detached and laid on the counter (leaving a nice hole in the ceiling), there was a picture hiding something on the wall (however it wasn't hiding it all the way), and the sprinkler system piping was run open along the ceiling (a cosmetic bummer!). The bed was pretty hard and we didn't sleep well at all. The bathroom was very clean and modernized and the jacuzzi tub was great! We had to mess with the cables on the TV to get the fuzz out of the cable and the TV was an older style unit. The room also has a weird shaped ceiling and makes it a tad bit difficult to get from the turret sitting room (which was awesome!) to the rest of the room (you have to watch your head). Breakfast was a peach stuffed french toast with fresh fruit, coffee/tea, and some delicious sausage. It was all served to you as you sit and was very quick! The breakfast was by far the best part of the stay. The location is GREAT! located basically in downtown Mackinaw City and right around the corner from Sheplers fairy docks. My problems were mostly of value. I was charged a very premium price for a room that was not up to par in quality. If you're going to offer a room that expensive, on the third floor, at least turn on the air! All in all, I would stay there again if the price was better. The staff was VERY nice and added a friendly atmosphere.

Room Tip: Did not feel rm 301 was a premium room.

Our 1st visit to Mackinaw City and we could not have chosen any better place to stay! The place is gorgeous! It is immaculate! We had a very comfortable room. The food (breakfast, cookies/muffins during the day, and then the dessert at nite) was outstanding! the 2 wonderful ladies responsible for the food and for the up-keep of the rooms did an excellent job! They were very friendly and personable - they made us feel very much like home.
We highly recommend this B&B and would stay there again should we go back and visit Mackinaw City!

I have been here many times this visit was something unusual in a good way. We came to check in and the the maid we saw there before knew us quite well. We waited till our room was finished being cleaned up. We were offered cookies and the famous bay view coffee and lemonade while we waited. To get to the extent of the story the maids treated my friend and i like gold and made us so welcome. I never saw that before anywhere that we have stayed b4 at a bed and breakfast. I even got to meet the owner who i could tell by her voice sounded like Paula Deen! I got a picture of the maids who cooked the desserts and wonderful breakfasts. Even when checking out Lori who was at the front desk gave me a hug and told me to come back again. Thats what you call gracious hospitality in a grand and southern tradition.

Room Tip: Room 302 was huge was almost like an apartment but it was only thing available for that weekend we s...
