I stayed in Rm 301 and paid a premium rate. The house itself is beautiful. It is large and very visually appealing. When pulling up the first thing we saw was a worker outside wearing very tattered clothing, so it wasn't a great first impression. The bricks leading up the the office were not maintained and had weeds in between them. The lady behind the counter was very sweet and helpful. We had to climb up a lot of stairs to get to our room and found our room without AC turned on. With it being on the 3rd floor, it took a little while to cool down as it was just a small window air conditioner build into the wall. For the price of the room, I was not impressed. It did have a fireplace, jacuzzi, and private balcony. However, we saw two bugs on the bed, the smoke detector was detached and laid on the counter (leaving a nice hole in the ceiling), there was a picture hiding something on the wall (however it wasn't hiding it all the way), and the sprinkler system piping was run open along the ceiling (a cosmetic bummer!). The bed was pretty hard and we didn't sleep well at all. The bathroom was very clean and modernized and the jacuzzi tub was great! We had to mess with the cables on the TV to get the fuzz out of the cable and the TV was an older style unit. The room also has a weird shaped ceiling and makes it a tad bit difficult to get from the turret sitting room (which was awesome!) to the rest of the room (you have to watch your head). Breakfast was a peach stuffed french toast with fresh fruit, coffee/tea, and some delicious sausage. It was all served to you as you sit and was very quick! The breakfast was by far the best part of the stay. The location is GREAT! located basically in downtown Mackinaw City and right around the corner from Sheplers fairy docks. My problems were mostly of value. I was charged a very premium price for a room that was not up to par in quality. If you're going to offer a room that expensive, on the third floor, at least turn on the air! All in all, I would stay there again if the price was better. The staff was VERY nice and added a friendly atmosphere.
Did not feel rm 301 was a premium room.
