In celebration of our 14th wedding anniversary, this was an awesome place to stay! Wonderful, friendly, helpful people; awesome food! - MANY compliments to the sweet ladies in the kitchen! All of the staff were wonderful! Location to everything was wonderful! Only minor complaint was the creakiness of the floors - we stayed in a 2nd floor room, so the 3rd floor room occupants could be heard walking about, sometimes late at night. Overall though, it was worth it! Would definitely stay there again, but 3rd floor room preferred :)

I could not ask for more from a bed and breakfast. The room was great, the service was spectacular. There are 8 rooms, we stayed on the bottom floor for just $95/night. The room was large, with a sitting area, a bedroom, a bathroom and a dressing room. The bathroom had marble floors and a jacuzzi tub. The room had a refridgerator, microwave and small tv. The room was perfect for us, quiet, and very accomodating. The food was incredible. Warm muffins every morning, large breakfasts (stuffed french toast, omelets, eggs benedict during our stay) and incredible desserts every night (strawberry shortcake, brownie sundaes). The staff was so incredible. Any thing that we needed they were right there for. Could not recommend a place anymore. We'll be back in the future, without a doubt.

My husband and I stayed here in October 2011. Really fun B&B, fantastic service and the food was AMAZING! Our only complaint was the bed. Very hard, very noisy, creeky bed. It was a lovely four post bed, but we couldn't move without making a lot of noise.

We stayed two nights at the Brigadoon, which is located on a quiet little side street just a block away from all the fudge shops and other tourist sites. The room was very spacious and nicely decorated. The breakfasts were nicely done, although they don't cater to those with food sensitivities. (Since I can't eat cheese, this was a bit of a problem on one of the days.) In addition, they serve fresh, warm cookies and lemonade in the afternoon, and then a wonderful dessert service in the evening. I would definitely go back if we find ourselves in this corner of Michigan again.

My Dearest Friend and I just completed our 24th annual Girl's Fall Long Weekend Trip, September 16-20, 2011.
We flew into Traverse City MI, stayed friday night at the Holiday Inn Acme, which was very nice. Saturday in our rental, we drove up the Lake Michigan Coast to Petosky MI enjoying a lovely gourmet lunch at Chandlers. Petosky is a charming town, where you can experience the salmon trying to swim or "fly" upstream and watch people trying to catch them.
We checked into the Brigadoon B&B 9-17 for three nights. The Yellow Victorian Home was more Beautiful!!! than their website .. We were greated very warmly, informed that fresh cookies, coffee, lemonade and tea was already available for this afternoon as every afternoon.
Yes, just what we needed to officially start our NO CALORIE Counting weekend.
We stayed in rooms 203 and 303. Room 203 had a new sofa bed which was not comfortable as well as the queen bed was too firm for my friend. We were promised a new room the next day which was 303 in the Tower. The Sofa Bed was softer as well as the King Bed.
Each room is bascially a suite, with a separate sitting parlour with fireplace, refrigerator, microwave and large spa tub and beautifully decorated.
Each morning, we enjoyed a gourmet breakfast. Breakfast and evening snacks are served in the sunny glassed in dining area. Breakfasts included: spinach quiche, frittata with onions, green peppers and mushrooms, biscuits, Cherry and banana cake, fresh fruit, sausage, orange juice and served on real china every morning...no continental breakfast here. I would suggest for breakfast a healthier menu, ..although beautifully presented and tasteful, neither my friend nor I could eat most of what was served.
Each evening, between 8-9 pm, we were served either a hot fudge/caramel sundae, strawberry shortcake or cheescake...and yes we ate every night. Before retiring, we chose one of the many movies to watch in our room.
I would recommend The Brigadoon to everyone...it was a beautiful home and located less than one block to the Mackinaw City main shopping district and two blocks from Shepler's Ferry that will take you to Mackinac Island. The location was ideal and in a residential area not garbled in the tourist area. If stairs are a challenge for you, opt for the first floor.
We took Sheplar's Ferry to mackinac island on Sunday. Rode to The Grand Hotel in the hotel's grand carraige. We paid $30.00 to tour the grounds and dine at the Grand Buffet.
If you just want to tour the grounds, it is $10.00.
Aunt Janet and I had coctails on the huge porch admiring the american flags at each magestic column and the view. The Grand Hotel Buffet was magnificent...would make any foodie happy.
I indulged in the mild buttery smoked salmon, capers, shrimp, shucked oysters and of course the Grand dessert "table". This was a Bargain..and again felt like Queens.
One of our most memorable adventures was to rent our own horse and carriage for two from Jake's a short walk from the Grand. We had a blast.
We drove to the west side of Mackinaw City twice to watch the sunset..several people were there just watching and taking pictures as the sun melted into Lake Michigan.
We toured St Ignace on Monday a waste of time and money...so we drove back to Petosky and ate again at Chandlers...
Finding a Petosky Stone is good luck...This stone is indigenous to the area and resembles the back of a tourtoise shell when wet. Jewelry or individual stones are sold everywhere as well as Fudge. This is the Fudge Capital of the Universe.
We drove back to Traverse City and flew into Detroit back to Peoria IL.
Until next year...we recommend touring the Mackinaw City area most emphatcially and enjoying the Brigadoon.

Room Tip: Ask for softer beds...all of the rooms were bright and beautiful, especially 303.

Stayed 2 nights in July 2011. Believe we were in rooom 101 which was already praised by a previous reviewer, so we have nothing to add or to deduct. Breakfast was excellent on both days. Our only quibble is that you did not have a choice but but the late afternoon dessert more than made up for it.
