I'll list the problems, keep it short and what was positive.
-room not booked as according to "JOHN ". had to pay an $20 for larger room (because we have 2 adults an 6 kids. BTW we have stayed in other hotels with no problems. We we're also accused of booking a room with 2 beds to accommodate all 8 of us. Pretty sure
I couldn't sneak all 6 kids past front desk without getting noticed- we usually do everywhere else...
-No maintenance outside in parking lot, all entry ways were full of ice, no sand or salt...
-Up to the 5th floor, we start SMELLING MOLD...and dehumidifiers everywhere. hummm.
-We open our room door and it smells HORRIBLE. I call the front desk and I'm told to open the windows an turn on the heat.
so unpack our stuff, store our food in the fridge BTW you have to turn it on-ok. we left to go swimming.
-3 hrs later, we come back to our room, and the fridge is still warm. I call front desk. I'm told to check if It's plugged in- yes. is it on-yes. oh you have to flip the switch on the wall next to the same box that controls the lights. OK maybe we should labeled that...now that my food is wasted...
-we go out for supper to some pizza shop BC I think- all good there.
-returned to waterpark for a swim after supper. noticed washroom disgustingly clogged with matter.
-returned to room at 10pm to settle down, went to front desk to rent a movie. apparently you can only pay CASH as it is the manager' "personal collection" hhummm...
-go back to room to set movie for kids and take a shower. NO HOT WATER. I ran it for 15 mins. still nothing.
Morning comes...still no hot water???
-called front desk, "michelle" said to slowly move tap from side to side and jiggle it....WHAT?
she said she was going to have someone check it...
ok. let's go for breakfast.
-Breakfast is across the street at Hamilton. good and simple breakfast: cereal, waffles, fruit salad, bagels, milk, orange juice, coffee...the usual.
-arcade, change machine out of service, run all the way down to front desk, had to wait 15 mins bc apparently they "share" employees and another person from the hotel was bringing change.
-you cannot identify staff as they we're all wearing casual attire even the front desk and GM and no name tags. (I wonder why)
-we checked out at 10:30 am and I address my concerns with "MICHELLE" BEFORE the bill was printed. room was supposed to be $69 plus in good faith I added $15...bill was now 108$
so according to Michelle, there is no mold in the hotel or room. (I confirmed otherwise with other guests)
-They were going to have hot water back on soon, (HOW DOES THAT HELP ME WHEN I'M CHECKING OUT???
-and THEY FULLY CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD WHEN I CHECKED IN... not checking out.
so no apologies, no hot water and enjoy the smell of mold all for the full price.
we drove home with stuffy noses, headaches and 2 kids feeling sick...
well the waterpark was ok, water in play area was really cold. but toilet was still clogged after 2 days...
Don't waste your money here. STAY AT ANOTHER HOTEL (check reviews on different sites and dates) The Hamilton seemed nice-ASK TO SEE THE ROOMS BEFORE YOU CHECK IN...
the waterpark was good for the kids to spend energy and hot tub ok for adults. will not go back to a under maintained, poorly staffed and overpriced hotel. find a good rate somewhere else and use the waterpark.
