Wonderful, well laid out campground. We have stayed in the cabins twice, they are really nice. I do not have camping gear, so this is my way of camping with my son. Everyone is super friendly, and helpful.

Room Tip: If you camp, beautiful sites right on the lake.

I just wanna start out by saying thank you Frank for owning and running such a great campground! Ive been to a few around the state and nothing compares to yours. Me and my girlfriend made a last minute decision to come up this past june instead of staying close to home and camping. Usually when you wait till the last second you dont exactly get the best site or something goes wrong or isnt right but your staff was so nice so helpful they set us up with a site right on the water with a bridge view ive never been this far north or seen the bridge so thats exactly what i was looking for. Your staff from the day i arrived till the day i left was soo friendly and nice and helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. That really stood out to me that the very next day we booked our labor day weekend with you guys and again had a great time! It didnt matter how busy it was ur staff was exceptional and made sure we had what we needed and answered any questions we had. Besides ur great staff your campground is very clean and kept up well and you have one of if not the best views in the state of michigan, you have a fully stocked camp store that has really good coffee and i forgot to metion the arcade and free mini golf and pool you get when staying here. The last thing ill say is i hate reading these bad reviews yeah the shore might be rocky but if you walk out far enough you can swim in crystal clear water, if you cant Start a fire or whatever the case may be ask for help. Its camping and in my opinion there is no where better to camp then mackinaw mill creek campground! We will be making it a traditon to come back.2-3 times every summer I cant wait till next june! See you guys then

We stayed here for a week and had a great time. However, our lot was conveniently located near the campstore/bathrooms and showers. Not all lots are near these amenities b/c the campground is so large. The pool is OK, could be larger considering the size of the campground. The beach is nice, but the shoreline is very rocky, so you might want watershoes. The water is very clean and clear though. You have to buy your own firewood here, but be warned, the wood is green and doesn't burn well, so if you're anticipating having some big campfires you'll be disappointed. Plus our firepit was the size of a frying pan. Another downside is they must allow you to pull on your sire at anytime, so we had a trailer/diesel truck setting up next to us at 11pm, and then a motor home at 12 am, which wasn't so nice for our sleeping kids. They have FREE hayrides, firetruck rides and mini golf. The staff was all helpful and pleasant. Our kids had a great time, if we go again I'd make sure to request a lot near the bathrooms! My parents had a cabin w/ a bathrooom. It was clean and suited them just fine. Would be nice if it had some shelves near the sink to store food etc. instead of having to use he floor.

Thanks for staying with us! We have added 300 permanent fire rings and are adding more all the time. For some of our smaller (budget) sites we let campers use fire containers (we give them out Free or you can bring your own), so they can put their fire where it works best. Sorry you had a problem lighting your wood, our staff would have been happy to give you a hand. You must have been here Labor Day weekend? Sorry you were woken up. We do our best to keep night time noise down and have staff on call 24/7 to handle noise complaints. We rarely campers in late except for arrival nights of holiday weekends. We know people are driving a long ways those nights. We have the office open late and tell everyone to be as quiet as possible because everyone is sleeping. That was good advice to tell folks to bring water shoes as our 1 mile of natural beaches is quite rocky. There are sandy public Mackinaw beaches a couple miles away BTW! The lake Michigan side of the straits of Mackinac tends to have more sandy beaches than Lake Huron. Thanks again and hope to see you next summer!

Nice campground... I give it four out of five because of a few reasons... Our biggest complaint would be lack of modern washrooms... They have some next to the store but our campsite was far from that location.... They have a few outhouse washrooms but for the price of the campsite they need to upgrade...alsobis the lack of firepits at the campsites... Ours had none... We were told to use a fire pan which is simply an 8 inch metal baking pan... Pretty useless to have a fire in... They have tons of metal cans to dump your ashes in but a complete lack of garbage cans anywhere in the campgrounds except at the front gate which is far from most sites...
They do have very clean bathrooms and showers... Just only a few of them... The pool was clean and warm

Thanks for your feedback. I know it is inconvenient to bring garbage to the office area, we have tried having garbage cans in the park and other dumpster locations. It might be hard to believe, but just having campers putting out garbage bags regularly draws in seagulls (who make an incredible mess and get surprisingly aggressive - including raiding cooking food). The sea gulls actually swarm in the hundreds and their droppings are very destructive to paint on some vehicles. This also keeps us from being over run by raccoons and skunks - which, believe me, happens quite quickly as we are surrounded by wilderness. Having the centralized location for garbage, we have found, is the best way to keep the wildlife in the wilderness and out of the campsites. We have added 300 permanent fire pits to our sites over the past 2 years. We are continuing to add firepits to many of the remaining sites, however, for the budget smaller sites, campers like being able to pick where to put their fire. It gives them more flexibility on where they can put things. We do have 16 x 16 x 20 inches pans available for free, or you can bring your own fire container (many return campers do that). If you would like to be near the modern facilities when you camp here, all you need to do is ask. Some campers like the primitive camping experience, others prefer the modern facilities. We like for our campers to have the choice. Thank you for giving us a try and for taking the time to let us know your thoughts.

We returned to Mill Creek for the third time last week and still enjoy our visit. We have graduated from a pop-up camper to a trailer and the folks at the campground did a really good job in setting us up with a Bridge/Island view between posts 10 & 13. The fit was a little tight as we were not able to open our canopy but that was not a problem since we were able to sit out in front of our camper around a fire and just enjoy the beauty of the bridge.

By the way....thanks for getting rid of those awful "pans" that we had to use in previous visits for fires. The fire ring that was at our site was very useful and it looked like the campground was constructing newer fire pits throughout the campground.

We experienced cooler weather during our visit so we were able to open up the camper windows and sleeping was great as you could hear the waves crashing on shore.

We arrived on a Wednesday afternoon so the check-in process was quick and painless. The camp store had the supplies that we needed and it was an easy bike ride from our campsite.

This place is huge! You could easily get lost while riding but keep pedaling and you will find where you are going.

The only complaint was the trash bins at the entrance/exit. It was very congested getting out. I understand the need to consolidate the trash in one area to help control the "critters", but with as much space that is available in the campground, maybe an easier access could be designed.

Overall, we will be back again in a couple years.

Campsites are WAY overpriced..... Disgusting waterfront. It's mud, muck, slimy, slippery, plain nasty. Yes, you can see the bridge, which is exquisite, but other than that, there is no use for the water access. The pool is less than average, and WAY overpopulated. For a campground with 600 sites, the pool should accommodate way more people than it does. Kids are diving, jumping, acting ridiculous, and it makes it hard when everyone is so jam packed in, that they are bumping into each other. Also pool hours are ridiculous for a family campground in the summer time. You HAVE to use their firewood, which is green, and doesn't even burn. Our children couldn't even make s'mores. I would NOT recommend this campground. Take your hard earned money to a place that makes your stay worthwhile.

Yes, you can not bring firewood into the park. Did you not see the billboards running the length of the state or read the news for the past 10 years? Moving firewood in Michigan is banned? Entire forests are being decimated by the Emerald Ash Borer as well as a host of other pests. We sell local (pest free) aged wood at the store and camp office, it is not green. We are hoping to keep our large stand of ash trees intact for as long as possible. Though now there are even huge swaths of the Upper Peninsula that have been infested. There is usually a large selection of wood at both locations and I don't notice anyone having a problem making a fire, but if you did, don't be embarrassed, you could have called the office and we would have helped you start your fire. We can do that because we have staff on call 24/7, maintaining the park, assisting campers and generally running their tails off. A review like this would make you wonder how we have been in business for 50 years, why 40% of our business is return customers and 30% is by word of mouth. I am beginning to think either people "get it" and love our place, or they just don't. And if you don't "get it" I don't think a bigger swimming pool would make you happy. We clean our buildings continuously all day as well as pick up and maintain the park constantly. We have over 21 types of sites to pick from along with beautiful knotty wood pine cabins. We give free hayrides and firetruck rides in the evenings. We have miles of roads to explore, hike and bike. We have a well stocked park store and an arcade. This is one of the most spectacular settings of most any campground - anywhere. We have one mile of natural beaches with views of the Mackinac Bridge and Mackinac Island. As everywhere in Lake Huron, the water levels are down, so everyone's beachfront has been changed. Where you are along our beach varies greatly between crystal clear rocky beach, some places with natural silt (that comes and goes), and a small sandy area. I swim in this lake twice a week and I assure you the water is crystal clear and gorgeous, just like in our photos and videos. The bottom in most places along our shore is rocky, so water shoes make it much more pleasant experience if you venture out. As far as wasting your money? We have supersaver rates at the time you stayed that are $12 a night on up to full hookup sites on the lake with a bridge view (no other campground anywhere has lakefront bridgeview sites) for $49 a night - not to mention everything in between. I don't know any other campground with that range of rates and choices - let alone rates as low as ours. We just (last Friday) completed a full rebuild of our entire wifi (available FREE to our guests) network to increase speeds and dependability - we are constantly, daily, working to give our campers the best possible camping value.

Every year, my extended family goes on a family reunion camping trip. It's a LARGE group, usually needing to book 12-15 sites. We had a pretty great experience here. We stayed 5 days.

I read a few of the reviews complaining about the staff being rude. NEVER HAD ONE BAD EXPERIENCE WITH STAFF. Like I said, we're a large group and they had to come and tell us to quiet down one evening (oops! :) ) but even then, they were polite and smiling the whole time. The store staff and check in staff were great as well!

The facilities were nice. The bathrooms were always clean. The shower stalls are created by curtains with no actual door or walls between showers, and that I didn't really like, but it was again clean and because they were gender separated, it wasn't too bad.

The pool was great. A little chilly, but the kids loved it. It was always clean and the pool had plenty of seating around it. The only negative about the pool area was that it wasn't very accessible for young children or anyone with a physical disability. The only way in or out of the pool is by pool ladders. Not bad getting in, but can be terrible getting out if you have a bad knee or are pregnant. I wish they had steps or something to make it easier because a few members of our group couldn't enjoy the pool because they knew they couldn't get back out.

The camp store was really well stocked. The kids really liked the ice cream they had, and the morning coffee was really nice :) The prices weren't bad either.

The cabins were nice and clean. We've stayed in cabins every year for the last 15 years and these ones had great storage space. It made it easier to keep it organized during our stay.

The views are just as spectacular as all the reviews say! It's a lovely campground (VERY LARGE, so I recommend a bike) and the people there really were wonderful. I would stay here again for sure. It was a really enjoyable trip.
