“Very interesting place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

Enjoyed visiting the Colonial Michilimackinac and hearing about how life was lived during those days; especially liked the stories related by the French voyageur. The demonstrations of life were very informative. The views from the walkway along the fortified wall were exceptional. It is a very educational and fun place to visit. Be sure to visit the museum shop as they have a lot of unique items.

“Fun for the kids!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

We liked the people in period clothes and their helpful descriptions and educational discussions. Plenty for the kids to explore since it was so "hands-on." Lots of walking and climbing for spectacular views. Really enjoyed watching the archaeologists at work, too.

“Very Interesting Fort With a Beautiful View!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

My boyfriend, my boyfriend's dad, my boyfriend's dad's fiancé, and I went to Colonial Michilimackinac while my boyfriend and I were on vacation in Michigan. Typically, I do not enjoy learning about the history of forts but I really enjoyed this place. It has a beautiful view of the Mackinac Bridge. The cannon and musket firing was really fun, although the musket guy couldn't get his musket to go off at first. The workers did a great job of staying in costume and shared a lot of neat facts with us about the fort and area. The woman that was working in the garden even let us try some mint from her garden. We were going to eat at their café but they were out of their subs so we decided against it because I don't like hot dogs. They have a very large gift shop with everything that you can imagine and I bought Michigan shaped cookie cutters and a picture frame. There is a lot of stuff to do here, and I really recommend it to those who want to learn more about Michigan's history.

“Wonderful History Lesson”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

Having visited Fort Mackinac it was nice to see a smaller version where everything seemed to be interrelated. The students were busy doing their excavation but still enjoyed talking about their work and how they happened to come here. The period costumes were interesting as they were at Fort Mackinac. The fort is in very good shape and the rooms contain many artifacts of the period. The interpreters enjoy telling the story and invite questions.kids will learn a lot here if you take your time to involve them in the various activities and displays. Cannon and musket demonstrations will please them as well.
