We stayed for two nights ( first in an interior room for 85 bucks and then to balcony suite on main street, room 209 for the second night...I think for 165 bucks). The interior room for 85 bucks was a great value, small room with no window but the skylight did the job. The balcony suite was breath-taking! We walked in and was very impressed by the size, the furniture and the view over the straights of Mackinac. I read reviews on here about how nice these rooms were but didn't "get it", until the first carriage went by. How relaxing to hear the wind, the clip clopping of the horses and the chatter of passerbys. ( if door was shut you wouldn't hear a thing so don't worry about it being too loud).
The staff was great...we had a 8 month old with us and was worried about the room switch and his nap schedule colliding. And it almost did but they rushed and got us in to our room so the baby could nap. This is our first trip to the island and will be back for sure! I can't imagine staying anywhere else. I travel often and this room competes with one of the best hotels. Don't spend an arm and a leg, stay at main street inn!
Other quick hits...
It's directly across from shoppers ferry ( but close to all).
There are fudge shops all over so location is great...it's on main street. Lol
It's next to the chuck wagon and it's a Must for breakfast.
I love this place.
It would have been perfect if the shower wasn't made for people under 5'6"...:). I'm 6'6" so it was like limbo taking a shower.
