“Excellent intimate museum with historical local photographs. Worth a quick visit.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013 via mobile

Very nicely done for a small museum. We enjoyed seeing the historical photos of the island. Local artwork is also featured and available for purchase. If you visit Fort Mackinac, just walk across the park and stop in this museum for a few minutes. You won't be disappointed.

“beautiful art, thank you for the opportunity to see it.”

Lovely assortment. Thank you for sharing. We liked it all. Representations of the art was posted through out the island, what a pretty touch.

“Mackinac history in art and crafts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

Mackinac State Historic Parks has done a superb job of taking one of it's historic structures (The Indian Dormitory in Marquette Park) and transforming it into a wonderful exhibition tracing the history of the island. Paintings, sculptures, pictures, crafts and more all line the walls in both permanent and rotating exhibits.

The downstairs is a art studio for kids that allows them to have some fun while creating some little piece of art that, on our visits, have been Mackinac-related.

Admission is included if you buy the ticket to Fort Mackinac or are a member of Mackinac Associates, free if you are a guest to most of the hotels on the island in 2013 (inquire at your hotel front desk) or $5 to walk in.

If you are interested in the history of the island, this museum is worth a visit.

“Interesting but ...& Crafts for Kids”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

It is a very small museum with a couple of interesting exhibits including paintings, maps, glasswork, a few Indian artifacts and photographs by Gardnier. If you are staying in one of the "Historical Hotels" (Iroquois was one), admission is free, which is the only reason we went. I think I would have been disappointed paying the nominal $5 admission. They had a large craft room on the first floor with an enthusiastic crew. If your kids like crafts, this looked like a fun place for children. There is also a playground out back.
