“We really enjoyed eating here.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

We didn't want to spend $30 or $40 (I heard both prices and not sure which was right) to eat the Grand Hotel lunch buffet so we ate at the Jockey Club. We sat outside and all had burgers. Service was fabulous and the food was delicious. I would definitely eat there again!

“Pub-like atmosphere and good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

Four of us had been walking the island when the skies opened up and cold rain bucketed down. We were close to the Jockey Club and it was lunch-time, so we ducked in and found ourselves in the perfect spot for a rainy afternoon.

The place is outfitted like a cozy British pub with dark wood tables and booths, a small fireplace (warming us on this cold, damp day), fabrics in dark greens and reds.

The lunch menu includes appetizers, soups, salads and a few full entrees, but we went for the sandwiches. I had the herb crusted whitefish sandwich, the others in our party had the burger. The fish was done right, the crust was crisp. My companions said the burgers were juicy, full of beefy flavor and cooked as each had ordered (two well dones, one medium-rare). The attentive server observed when the fries were getting low and whipped out a second basket.

Prices are typical of lunch fare at most of the island restaurants. The burger was $15, the fish sandwich $14.

We never felt rushed and lingered long after we finished our meal until the rain abated. A very relaxing dining experience.

“Incredibly Awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

This was a wonderful surprise. Meals at the main dining room of the Grand Hotel are an experience on a grand scale, and The Jockey Club is a wonderful counterpoint: much more intimate, more attentive service, and excellent, innovative food. Our family enjoyed one of the best meals ever here. The truffle fries with parmesan and rosemary are superb and not to be missed. We followed this fun appetizer with a burger (for my son), and mushroom ravioli and shrimp tacos for the adults. All entrees were fresh, inventive, bursting with flavor, and generously portioned. This is the place for an awesome meal on the island. Truly outstanding.

“Great Food Great Service, Relaxed Atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

The food here may be better than in the main dining room of the Grand Hotel itself (which is saying something), and yet it is open to the general public and no coat or tie is required. Service is the same four star service as inside, but you can dine with a view of the hotel and town golf course in a very relaxed atmosphere. They don't seem to try to turn the tables so dining is very relaxed. Wine menu is a little limited, but I asked to see the main dining room wine menu, and they obliged and requested the bottle I selected be sent right over. The steak I ordered was one of the best I have had anywhere and portions were large. It is somewhat pricey (there are other more expensive options on the island), but value is still there given quality and quantity of food, ambience and service provided. We like to dine here when on the island whether or not we are actually staying at the Grand.

“Nice view, relaxing surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012

When at the Grand the Jockey Club is a nice break. Relaxing atmosphere just off the golf course. Food is fine. Good place to people watch.
