“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2014

Ideally located and with lovely Virginia and her husband it is the perfect place to stay and relax on the island. And even if you are only 10 minutes away from Main Street and its restaurant, don't miss out out in the breakfast, it is really delicious!

We stayed here for two nights on our trip round Lake Michigan, and though the weather was cold the welcome from Don and Virginia was extremely warm. On our arrival we were treated to the 3pm serving of popcorn, fudge and cake. Tea and coffee were available, as they are all day. We had a lovely room (the Bridge Room) which, though not large, was extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean, lovely towels and good quality toiletries, and comfy bed with top quality bed linens..

Breakfast was tasty and hearty and set us up for the day. Don and Virginia were on hand all day ready with advice and recommendations, and should we ever be in the area again we would definitely stay here.

My wife and I stayed at the Cottage Inn for two nights - rain, freezing weather and snow in mid-May made it memorable. We biked around the island in the snow and had a great time. The Inn is perfectly located in town and makes for easy walks all around. We stayed in the room with the porch directly over the front door and loved seeing all of the activity on the street. Don and Virginia exude southern hospitality in Michigan and were very gracious and helpful. Our room was fairly small, but very comfortable. There was a wedding in the Inn and a wedding party at the Inn in the two nights that we were there. Great place and very reasonable rates. Can't wait to go back.

Recently was on Mackinac Island for a conference. Was happy for the opportunity to stay at the Cottage Inn. The weather during the last days of April & first few days of May (this year) was not cooperative! However, the Cottage Inn's hospitality, location, excellent breakfasts and thoughtful hosts made my journey most memorable. Like a beacon of light in the fog my guest (mom) and I had the warmest welcome by Hosts Don & Virginia. If they could be of service they were. If you thought you might need something..., they had already thought of it and brought it over to you or informed you that it was taken care of! Amazing folks whom truly live the definition of Host: With gracious hospitality, sincerity of conversation and helpfulness that added that something special to our 4+ days stay. Besides the BnB being a wonderfully clean place with nice cleaning staff and plenty of space to lounge and visit with other guests, the Cottage Inn was home and a place that has two more die-hard fans for it's place of respite on, what can be, a busy island. Will certainly return. To our hosts....Thanks for the Excellent Experience!

Room Tip: We enjoyed the lighthouse room due to it's big window which let in any light that the day might...

Don and Virginia go above and beyond to make your stay wonderful!!! Very nice retreat. Delicious homemade breakfast everyday. Always spotless and comfortable. It is close to downtown yet off the beaten path.

Don and Virginia were gracious hosts. We felt like guests in their home! The location is excellent; within walking distance to everything and very quiet. We also enjoyed chatting with other guests over breakfast and the "sweet treats" served in the afternoon. We would highly recommend it.

The Cottage Inn was a very lovely place and I would highly recommend it. The breakfast was wonderful, and the inn had a great location on Market street where it was very quiet. The owners were welcoming and the rooms were very comfortable and in great condition.
