“Tea Service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

My family and I stayed in a different hotel, but decided to visit the Grand for tea service. It wasn't very good. The tea was not hot, the sandwiches stale and the sweets weren't at all memorable. The servers confused our tea orders and did not bring silverware. We were quite disappointed, especially considering the amount we paid.

“Not as grand as it states”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

A stay at the Grand Hotel was to be an extravagant treat for my mother-in-law. We stayed in one of the most expensive rooms ($1,145/night-not including taxes) for three nights and thought we would get one of the fabulous rooms on the Grand's website decorated by Carlton Varney. We were incredibly surprised when we were escorted into the Jane Seymour room. The view was fantastic but the floor had multiple black stains, faded and worn cushions on the couch and chairs, and not-so-fabulous bedding. One thing I felt was strange was that we could not choose our room and, of course, the Jane Seymour room had no pictures online so one could see how bad it was. To add insult to injury, when we returned from our trip, I contact the Grand via the e-mail listed on its website and mentioned how upsetting it was to get such a disappointing room for the money we spent. I did not even get a response acknowledging my complaint.

I have pictures to upload which I will do when at home.

I will say the food was fanastic but would never again waste thousands of dollars for a room so disgusting.

Room Tip: Try to see if you can choose your own room. We tried but didn't get the one we wanted, even thou...

“Fairy tale Wedding at The Grand Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012 via mobile

It was a perfect week to remember ~ August 22, 2012. Amelia Adams married the man of her dreams on the East Porch of the Grand Hotel. We would not have changed one detail of our event. Marty Haines, the wedding planner of the hotel is amazing to work with as we'll as our photographers, Christy & Jeff DuPree of Island Photo. Thanks to them and the staff for making our trip so memorable.

“Solving Murders at the Grand”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

This hotel has been on my husband's Bucket List since he saw the movie "Somewhere in Time". Since our schedule would not allow us to travel there for that weekend, we chose to book for their "Murder Mystery" weekend. We had a great time, enjoyed working in teams with the other people we met there, and found the hospitality to be great. The weekend did find us a bit more 'scheduled' than we are used to on vacation, with not as much free time as we would have liked. We had a room with a great view and enjoyed the history and amenities.

“Beautiful and Historic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

The Grand Hotel is a wonderful piece of history and has been updated nicely to accomodate what we expect in a luxury resort. Let me get the couple negatives out of the wa first. Our first impression at the front desk was a little dissapointing, there was not much in guest accomodation and not many smiles either. This is a destination point and not a real easy trip. The ferry runs very often and that does help out. The hotel is definately "Grand" as you pull up in your horse drawn carriage it is amazing. Our kids loved the pool, particularly the large inflatable snake that then climbed up on hundreds of times. The workout facility was small but adequate. The food was amazing! Breakfast buffet just went on and on and on! It was very hot when we were there and the air conditioning kept up just fine. We really enjoyed our stay at the Grand Hotel.
