This is a Holiday Inn Express so you can't expect 5 star but as far as HIE's go this is a good one (especially for families). As a priority club member the reservation person talked me into a family suite as a free upgrade. I thought my sons would be a bit too old for that but accepted it anyway. Well, they loved it. We had a fort theme and they were shooting their pretend guns at me during our entire stay. They also liked the old-fashioned push "merry-go-round" amidst the swings and small playground equipment outside the room. After many miles of driving for several days they liked getting out and running around. The pool area is spacious and I like the large hot tub that allows you to keep an eye on older kids without needing to be in the pool. The family suite simply means that the kids bunk beds are separated by a partial wall and the room is decorated with a theme. You get to pick from the available themes upon your arrival. So if your kid has his/her heart set on something specific, check in early.
The hotel is located on a highway out of town near the small airport and a few fast food chains. It is a short drive into the town which looks like it would be a nice place for a summer vacation. We were only stopping here for the night on our drive to Chicago, so I don't know much about the town. However, I would recommend that you take the highway into town at sunset (which because it is at the western edge of the time zone means sunset is quite late). The highway ends at a parking lot along the beach at a lighthouse. What a relaxing way to end a day by watching the sun set into Lake Michigan.

I would highly recommend this hotel for families visiting the lovely town of Ludington.

The room was extremely large and airy. Huge comfortable beds and soft white towels. It was clean and in immaculate condition.

Reception was welcoming and friendly and eager to be of assistance. Breakfast was plentiful. And the pool area was spotless.

All in all, a good find.

The room was large and super clean. The beds were so soft. We loved the choice between soft or firm pillows (or both as i decided). Really a great stay. We spent $150 a night but we were relieved because we read reviews for a hotel we had booked instead for that night that were terrible. We sure didn't mind paying extra to ensure that we didn't end up sleeping in our van. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

We stayed for one night, the second time at this property, and as was true the last time, the stay was very good. The management was very good, check in was easy, the room was clean and the morning breakfast was good.

The property is about four miles from Lake Michigan so it is not good if you want easy beach access. I am a runner so I drove into town for my loop.

It is a good property if you are looking for value and a good rest.
