“Not What You Expect From an Embassy Suites”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

Units are old. The pillows were old and smelled. The water faucet in the shower would not turn to hot. It was barly warm. The service staff was fine but the place needs to be revamped. No parking becasue of a shoe converntion that I was not awre of at the time. Very loud and noisy. I would skip this place if I were you.

Room Tip: Rooms are out of date, Place looks tired.

“More like 3 1/2 stars”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

We stayed for a weekend overnight near home so the kids could swim, etc. Our stay was fine, staff was friendly, breakfast was really good. There were loud kids running around (not mine, for once!) but I expected that on a weekend.

The strike against it is whatever chemicals they use in the pool. I was a competitive swimmer so am very familiar with "normal" pool smells, and this wasn't one of them. I'm not sure if it was the amount they used or the type, but whatever it was, we've been home for several days and our hair still stinks despite multiple washings. IOur swimming gear smells so bad I may have to throw it out if I can't find something to remove the smell - two washings hasn't fixed it.

“OUTDATED HORRIBLE FOOD”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

This place is so outdated they still have TUBE TYPE Televisions that the picture "jumps" when you try to watch. Very Pitiful. The food is equally awful. The POT ROAST was so hard in the gravy it was "swimming in" that I thought it was all bones. The fajitas were like Sweet & Sour Stir Fry off of an "all day buffet". I have been a Hilton Honors member since the mid 90's..I complained and was offered "5,000 Hilton Honors Points for my trouble. I paid for 4 days and checked out after 2...no refund. Honestly Hilton's days are numbered when they let a Hotel like this exist without upgrading. I could go on about the "mold smell"...or the ancient heat System fan vibrating the bed...but obviously Hilton Doesn't care....

“Never Again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

This hotel has several issues that will keep me from ever staying there again:

1. Youth Sports teams - yes, I understand that the management wants to fill rooms, but this hotel has made it impossible for any other guests to enjoy their stay. They refuse to tell groups that they have to stay in their rooms and not in the halls / atrium. The noise is unbearable with kids running around and their parents are too busy getting drunk to care. The 'security' they bring in is worthless and spend most of their time goofing off or nowhere to be found, and the staff is unwilling to confront the issue.

2. Staff - I think the word I would use is 'unhelpful' bordering on 'rude'. The complete lack of concern from the front desk staff on how their guests are being treated is just terrible. That said, the breakfast staff is very nice and helpful. I think the Food Service Manager should be put in charge of the place just to see if she would do a better job.

3. Managers reception - Disappointing that every night it's stale nacho chips, some dips and a self serve popcorn machine.

4. Parking - Too few spaces near doors, and it's too cold in Michigan to trek across a parking lot.

5. Pool - It's almost like the pool has become a public pool some days. You see people walking in from outside the hotel right to the pool all the time and it's made enjoying the pools impossible.

6. Outdated - Time for a facelift on this property. The furniture is from the 90's and it shows.

Last time I'll stay there... it's just not a 'nice place' anymore.

“Average hotel - great manager”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

The hotel is what you would expect. We were there for a kid's hockey tournament and the kids enjoyed it. It was 30 minutes from everywhere we needed to go. The front desk had a lot of attitude, but Katherine (the manager) was terrific in solving some of the problems we encountered

Room Tip: Make sure you do not have a room over the indoor pool unless you like the smell of chlorine
