“Embassy Suites Livonia MI Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2012

We stay here with a skating team. The hotel staff was super nice and helpful very accommodating. The hotel was clean it is very large inside.. Kids loved the open balcony. Rooms were standard Embassy Suite style, probably on the older side but well kept. Breakfast was awesome as usual for Embassy Suites. Great Experience would come back!

What a great experience ! Got a super rate for 4 nights at this wonderful hotel. First, I never heard a staff member say the word 'no'. Such a 'can-do' attitude by all. Accommodations consisted of a 2-room suite: separate bedroom with comfy king-sized bed and 5 pillows of varying firmness, closet unit, TV armoir, 2 nitestands, table & chair, and a sitting room with sofa (I think it might have been a sofa-bed), coffee table, desk & chair, another TV, a bar sink/counter, microwave, fridg & storage, plus the bathroom which was nicely-sized. The suite was clean and quiet. My pet peeve is cleanliness in the bathroom and the corners in mine could have been a bit better (that's why I didn't give it an 'excellent'). The climate control was fairly quiet. The lobby/atrium was like a rain forest with a waterfall & river running all through. All of the rooms are on common balcony-floors which are open to the atrium below. My room also had a private balcony which, if it was summer, would have been nice to have the sliding glass doors open. I was attending a dog show with a service/show dog and the staff was very accommodating to him ($50 dog deposit). On one end of the hotel (outside) there was an area for doggie bags/disposal, which I used, and it was right by one of the auxilliary doors. There were nice areas to walk the dog as well. My only complaint was that the wireless internet in the rooms was very slow at times. The staff said that there was a scrapbooking convention going on and that the attendees were downloading files, clogging up the system. The complimentary cook-to-order breakfast is probably the best of any hotel I've ever stayed at, and there was also an evening complimentary manager's reception. The pool was nice and had a great waterfall feature. I would stay at the hotel again and highly recommend it. In a good area..I felt safe walking the dog on the property...and lots of shopping/restaurants nearby.

Room Tip: ask for a room across 'the bridge' on the 4th or 5th floor

Spent a weekend here with my kids. I travel extensively for business at a variety of hotels. The friendliness of staff here was among the best I have experienced anywhere. What a pleasant surprise. It helps make up for some of the hotels shortcomings: rooms are outdated, old TVs, dingy pool.
The bed spreads and TVs are probably from the 80's. The ceiling tile in the pool area needs to be replaced desperately. Sends a message about maintenance with such dirty, dingy tile.
On weekends, families take over this place and the breakfast area is nuts. Be prepared to wait in line like Disney.

We travel to Michigan once a year to visit releatives in Detroit. We like to stay at Embassy whenever we travel to any place because of the perks (cook to order breakfast, managers reception). But the first time we stayed at this hotel it was over run with hockey kids and their families. The parents sit downstairs and drink while the kids have free run of the hotel. The last time we were they we participated in a survey and complained about the crowd and the poor conditions of the rooms. The manager assured me this was an icolated incident but it was an exact repeat this year. Hotel is dirty and not worth the rate. Will not stay here again!

I remember attending a wedding here 16 years ago and was very impressed with the facilities. It looks like the decor throughout has not been updated since but at least the property is very well maintained and clean. Hotel staff was pleasant and helpful throughout, even to the point where the maid left extra sheets after she realized that we were using the sofa bed.

The suites are on the small side, more like a standard hotel room divided in two and separated by a door. The sofa bed was very soft and rather uncomfortable, but everything else worked well. Room decor was bland and uninspired. Cooked to order breakfast is Embassy Suites' distinguishing feature, and the omelets were generous and tasty, as was the oatmeal.

For the price ($99/night) it is a good deal. If you like the Embassy Suites breakfast, it is a good choice. If you don't need a fancy full breakfast, there are more modern choices nearby for the same price.

My latest stay at this location was in mid-November, and although this is my first review I've stayed here a few times a year for the last ten. The hotel has maintained a very good quality of amenities and services over that time. I always feel comfortable here and whenever I encounter a problem the staff is quick to set things right. Great value for the dollar, for the business traveler. Even though the breakfast has changed due to cost cutting, it's still much better than the continental breakfast offered by other chains, and the room service has always been very good and timely. I've never stayed on a personal trip, but judging from the number of families with children enjoying the pool it must be adequate for those folks too. Dated? Who cares -- I come here to sleep comfortably.

Room Tip: North-east corner on an upper floor seems to be the quietest. I've stayed here a dozen times at...

Our family stayed here for Christmas week 2011. We were dreading spending the holiday in a hotel, but the front desk staff warmly greeted us and wished us well each and every time we exited or returned to the hotel. They really made us feel welcome.

Check in went quickly and provided the only bump in the road to our stay. We reserved two rooms, on line, a king bed room and a double bed room. One would assume the rooms would be adjacent or at least close together. The hotel was not able to provide us with rooms close together which was disappointing, especially because of the Christmas holiday - we'd like to have been closer to our teenaged children. There was lots of going back and forth which would have been unnecessary if we'd had adjoining rooms.

The rooms were nicely appointed, each had a separate seating area. The bed linens, especially the spreads were tired and are ready for replacement. The television in the 'living room' was also dated - we had a fuzzy picture. The rooms were clean and the housekeeping staff was courteous.

The location of this hotel is convenient for us, it is close to freeways, shopping, convenience stores, etc...We saw interior painting going on, even Christmas weekend, so it looks like the hotel is getting some updating.

Breakfast was served each morning. Made to order omelets were good. Made to order waffles looked good, but the line for the ONE waffle iron was too long and we never tasted one. A second waffle iron would sure be an inexpensive quick fix for this. The cubed hash brown potatoes were dry each and every morning - there has to be a better product. Each morning there was sausage links - it would have been nice to swap the meat feature daily, maybe Canadian bacon, or turkey sausage patties, or bacon? Variety would have been appreciated. Hot coffee, juice, tea, available at a self serve station.

We stayed in room 201, noise from the elevator was not an issue, but we did hear some freeway traffic, a higher room might have avoided this. Our children's room was 213, they complained of more freeway noise than we had.

Room Tip: See comments above. Stay higher, stay away from pool and restaurant areas.
