“Best hotel in the area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2011

This property might be a little older.... but it is well maintained, clean and the atrium has a real cool waterfall and streams running through it.
The breakfast staff is friendly and attentive, the front desk staff is helpful and the suites are nice sized.
Plus...this is where Santa stays when he's at the nearby Laurel Place Mall...

Room Tip: If your not fond of water noise... ask for a room off the atrium (x43 44 37 or 38)

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times and have no major complaints.
The staff are friendly, the rooms are large and clean, the pool and fitness room are fine and the managers reception is a bonus.

The rooms do need updating (carpet / curtains / TV), as does the atrium area.

A couple of times there have been large school groups in the hotel, The hotel has always done a great job in keeping the business traveller seperate from these groups. I never had issue with noise in the sleeping room.

Room Tip: ask for a room away from the road - preferably in the corner of the building

Stayed at this location for a week to visit family in Novi. Location appeared safe and was convenient to I-275. Room was clean inside but balcony was dirty. Ice machines not working during stay. Most hotel staff were friendly. Walls are very thin. You can hear conversations in neighboring rooms. Also, when a neighbor closes their door, your entire room vibrates. This turned out to be an issue over the weekend as there was a high school hockey team and a wedding reception at this location. Both groups were up into early hours opening and closing doors and keeping us awake. Beds are doubles and not Queens. Food at breakfast was good. If not for the weekend late night noise and door banging, it would have been a good choice and enjoyable stay over all.

Room Tip: See if they can give you a room with no one next to you when they are not fully booked.

I am a Hilton Diamond Member and am not at all impressed after staying in this hotel for the first time.

First off, there is NO sign at the road telling you the entrance driveway to the hotel. The front desk made some excuse about zoning law but the other businesses on the street had signs at their driveway entrances.

Second, the rooms are old and in need of an upgrade. The wood furniture is showing its age and wear marks. The bathroom has old sinks and tub/shower that have rust marks around the drains. The TVs are old CRT style.

Worse is the noise from the highway. I had room on the 5th floor. All night long I could hear the trucks and cars from I-275. The sound-proofing of the exterior windows in not good.

Internet speed was extremely slow.

Breakfast in the morning was fine and service at the front desk was attentive. So, people-wise this hotel is fine. But, facility-wise, it is in need of a lot of help.

I usually stay at the Hampton across the interstate. While it is not the best of Hampton's, it is a better value for the money. It was not worth paying more to stay at this Embassy Suites.

Management needs to pump some money into this property or downgrade it from Embassy Suites to Comfort Suites.

Room Tip: Ask for a room as far away from the highway as possible

I admit I was a bit nervous staying here after reading the other reviews. While this isn't the typical for the Embassy chain (the rooms ARE outdated), there really wasn't anything significantly wrong. The thing that bothered me the most was the faint odor upon entering my room - call it old carpet, musty smell - not terrible, but just not pleasing.
Consider these benefits:
-All suite hotel
-Free drinks and snacks at manager's reception
-Lovely lobby and setting, lots of light and waterfalls
-Clean (not spotless, but cleaner than many places I've stayed!)
-Internet signal was consistent and strong.

The one other drawback was my cell phone didn't work in my room. I must not have been the only one, as others were on the internal balconies talking on their cell phones as well.
The elevators could use some improving - they are rather slow.

But for the great rate I received, I was pleased, and the location is very safe and convenient to shopping and dining.

Room Tip: Traffic noise can be an issue - be sure to ask at check-in for a room away from the highway.

This is a great choice if you are staying in the Livonia area. It is close to great restaurant choices, including Mitchell's Fish Market. There is a great free breakfast that includes an omlette chef for made-to-order omlettes.

The rooms are clean, and the meeting rooms are nice as well if your journey here requires a meeting room. Each room has a mini-fridge, microwave, and separate bedroom area. Embassy Suites are always a great choice for longer stays or travel with the family.

Room was big and had lots of amenities, including wireless access. King bedroom was small but had a TV. Then there was a living room with sofa and desk and another TV, but the desk was situated so that you couldn't see the TV if sitting at it. Bathroom was average.
It's nice to have a microwave and mini fridge, though. There is one ice machine on each floor and the floors are HUGE. Plan on walking awhile to get ice or to get to an elevator.

The funniest/awful part is the decor in the gigantic center courtyard area. It's supposed to be a tropical wonderland in the middle of suburban Detroit with waterfalls and a river. Along with all that, there's a random fugly arbor/terrace thingy for some poor person to have their wedding photos taken in, as well as what could be the LOUDEST carpet I've ever seen.

The pool/hot tub has a fake rock wall and is supposed to be lagoon-ish, but is just goonish. I wouldn't go in because I couldn't see to the bottom of the pool - the water was cloudy and gross.
It's right off major roadways but if you don't have a rental car you're stuck there - very little around it to eat/see/do.
There was a good, free hot breakfast, though. Take your family to the Sheraton down the street instead. Much more tasteful and price is similar.

Room Tip: Don't do it.
