“Perfect September Retreat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

We stayed at Snowbird Inn for 2 nights and it was not nearly long enough! There is so much to do with Downtown Leland, Glen Arbor, Sleeping Bear, Suttons Bay, & Lake Michigan shorelines so close, but all we wanted to do was relax in the comfort of the historically beautiful home and its surroundings. Our hostess, Alice, was absolutely lovely and made us feel so welcome and at home. Her gourmet breakfasts were delicious and only topped by her sparkling personality. She was so charming, accommodating and hospitable- I wanted to book my next stay before I even left! The rooms were spacious, very clean, comfortable and darling. You can tell this family has put a lot of love and care into running the Inn and I'm so happy to have stumbled upon it.

We stayed at the Snowbird Inn this summer and I have to say it was a perfect get away. The Inn is clean, quiet and comfortable. The rooms are HUGE with plenty of space for us to lounge. The breakfasts were DELISH! And of course, the location is perfect. We were close to Leland, Suttons Bay, Glen Arbor, wineries, sleeping bear dunes, the beach....pretty much everything we wanted was nearby. And the owners go over and above in taking care of their guests. We had gone out for a long bike ride and midway through it started to rain. Alice called my cell phone and offered a ride back to the B&B. Pretty amazing to have an innkeeper pick up soaking wet guests and bring them back to safety....THANKS!

I was a little apprehensive about this because we didn't have a lot of choices in this area. Were attending a wedding and needed something close by. Lisa and father Joe are the innkeepers and very nice. We had a large room with a private bath in our suite. There are other bedrooms where the bath is private, but in the hallway. Didn't want that. Accommodations were very nice as were the common areas. We only ate one breakfast there due to timing, but it was excellent with baked eggs, pancakes and fruit. Didn't spend a lot of time at the Inn due to having a lot of other commitments, but would highly recommend. They also have a kitty cat named Opera who was very sweet and vocal. She truly deserved the name Opera as she seemed to be talking or singing the whole time you were with her. Really cute.

Room Tip: Book early and get a suite with the bath right there, not in the hall.

My husband and I stayed at the Snowbird Inn while attending the 2012 Traverse City Film Festival. This is a charming and stately Bed & Breakfast in Leland, Michigan. Although you can not see Lake Michigan from the home, it is close enough to hear the waves or walk down to the beach. The main City of Leland is a very short (5 minute) drive away and a fun place to shop and eat. The Snowbird's host Lisa is gracious, beautiful and a fantastic cook. The breakfasts were outstanding! The atmosphere of the home is peaceful and private and it is a nice, convenient home base for exploring the gorgeous Leelanau Peninsula. We highly recommend it.

One of the highlights of our early Fall Road Trip around Lake Michigan was the Snowbird Inn. We arrived early enough to hike the short trail to the Lake Michigan shoreline as well as make a quick dash to Sleeping Bear Dunes nearby for the sunset. Our room was cozy and had a lovely view of a beautiful old barn on the property. The host was welcoming and helpful and the breakfast she prepared was excellent, especially the organic peaches picked that morning. We had just come from Mackinac Island by way of Fish Town in Leland and this was a perfect stopping point.

...the hubs and I spent a night at the Snowbird Inn this week and our only complaint was that we didn't stay the entire weekend. Lisa is a warm and inviting Innkeeper and made us feel welcome immediately -she gave us a tour of the Inn, recommended a wonderful local restaurant for us (and called to make us a reservation too -the Riverside Inn Restaurant in Leland) and pointed out the quiet walking trail leading to the Lake.
...our room was very nice, with a queen bed and a private bath down the hall, through another door (we walked in our PJs but there are bathrobes in the room), which we didn't mind at all -there were four other rooms booked that night and everyone was respectful of privacy. I would like to point out that like most B&Bs we've spent time in, there were no locks on any of the room or bathroom doors, but that's never been an issue and wasn't during this stay.
Lisa has an outside cat -Apricot- that greeted us as we came back in from dinner (in the garden outside) and a sweet inside dog -Juniper- that we only heard bark once to be let back in...we are very much 'dog people', but Juniper was quiet and not a bother at all, even during breakfast.
Breakfast! Coffee and tea were on at 730am SO the hubs and I curled up with our cups on a comfy couch downstairs to read while we waited for breakfast, which was served at 9am -Lisa served a delicious broccoli-cheddar baked egg dish with turkey sausage, cherry-cream cheese muffins, a local peach 'salad' and orange juice. Everyone at the table raved...delicious!
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay...thanks again Lisa!

Thank you for your lovely review of our inn!

As of June 2012, we have installed locks on all of our guestroom doors--although most of our guests still seem to leave the doors open!

My husband and I stayed there three nights in September and had a wonderful stay. Leland is a great little town to visit and dine. Biking around Lake Leelenau was wonderful (15 miles round trip from the Inn). Breakfast was DELICIOUS! Service excellent. Great wi-fi for the TV junkie that needs something electronic. Location to all the area sites, wineries, park etc is perfect.
thank you!
