“A Delightful Surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

This was my first trip to K-zoo and this hotel. Both were a delightful surprise. While K-zoo is really an under appreciated gastropub hub, this hotel allows visitors to readily walk to many of these establishments.

I'm told the hotel underwent a major renovation and it shows. Not having seen it previously, I was still very impressed with its modern feel. Somehow I ended up on the concierge level - and it was suite (sic). (My room had a bubble tub in the corner.) The "bar on the concierge level was a bit cliquey - with me being the newbie. I drank my two free drinks, ate the free appetizers, called it an evening, and skipped the free breakfast.

If you're in the area, consider staying in K-zoo. When you're there, consider this hotel. I will.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a bubble tub. (Maybe you'll get lucky.)

I stayed here for one night while on business in Kalamazoo. I had a great experience from the moment I arrived until the moment I left. The staff were very friendly which is important to me. The hotel has a nice modern look and feel. My room was spacious and very clean with modern, up-to-date, furniture. The room contained a refrigerator and safe. A coffee pot with coffee was also provided. Complimentary wifi was also provided. My only complaint about the room is that the bathroom was a little small. The hotels is located in a small shopping mall complex in the heart of downtown Kalamazoo. Plenty of eating and drinking options within a short walk. I would most definitely stay here again if visiting Kalamazoo.

This hotel is located downtown and within easy walking distance of the main attractions (restaurants, museums, etc.). Downtown Kalamazoo has many nicely restored historical buildings, which makes this modernistic architecture appear to be an alien spaceship that crashed in the middle of town. The middle-America charm and down-home atmosphere won't be found here.

The three of us stayed on the 7th floor in one of the round turrets, which made the room a very weird shape........a long and narrow wedge with only one small window on the outside surface. We found ourselves quite cramped in the room. But the furnishings and quality were top notch. There were a number of quirky things, such as the only towel racks were in the separate toilet/shower room, and none were available in the bathroom sink area. The vent fan in the bathroom wasn't working, and there were no windows that opened. And of course the modern design didn't allow for balconies. We couldn't figure out how to control the air.

The fitness center, indoor pool, and jacuzzi were amazing........more than what you would expect in even a luxury hotel.

There is no parking around the hotel itself, you have to pay to park in the parking structure across the street ($15 per day for self-parkers and $20 per day for valet).

I think next time I am in Kalamazoo I will try one of the bed-and-breakfast establishments.

This past week me and my husband stayed at the radisson while moving our son into his new college apartment. From the moment we checked in the sevice was excellent. Clean rooms and a smiling face everywhere we turned. The employees were all very helpfull no matter what we needed. We dined at the sports bar the first night and it was great. i've never been a burger gal but i really enjoyed theirs. On our second night we were going to eat outside the hotel but we ran into a one of the chefs in the little coffee shop and he changed our mind. Marcus talked us into trying zazios out and we loved his enthusiam and passion so we had to give it a shot. Best italian ive had since we were in California. I loved the scallops and he talked us into trying the pork belly Wow. By far the best experiance in a very long time.Cant wait to come back everytime we visit our son.

Room Tip: The 9th floor is a must stay.

Hello!

We are so glad we were able to help give you a comfortable home away from home while you were helping your son move in at college! It's wonderful that you were able to enjoy a burget at Burdicks, they are truly some of the best in town.

How wonderful that Marcus was able to talk you into trying a dinner meal at Zazios. We are very proud of all three of our restaurants, and hope you will try out our Webster's steak house, or one of our Zazios chef's table events next time you are in town to visit your son!

We hope to see you again soon!

I've stayed at this hotel many times over the years and despite the recent merger with Holiday Inn it continues to offer comfortable if slightly cramped rooms. The beds are large, the working area boasts an old-fashioned heavy desk lamp with sockets in its base, the armchairs and ottoman are cosy and the little refrigerator comes with complimentary bottled water. There's a coffee maker as well. No minibar, one has to call room service for drinks.
Food can also be ordered from the room service menu of from any of the restaurants, a great option when one craves a great big steak from Webster's but doesn't fancy submitting oneself to their formal dining room experience.
The wardrobe is tiny and there's no safe in the room.
The gym and swimming pool, which are open to non-resident members, are well equipped and not too crowded early in the morning and late at night (open 6 am - 10 pm weekdays).
There's a free shuttle to and from the airport.
All employees are unfailingly courteous and helpful.

Hello!

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a comprehensive review of your stay! We are glad that you found your room comfortable, and that you were able to enjoy our wonderful athletic club and pool facilities!

Due to our three in-house restaurants, each with their own bars, we do not have a standard minibar, however, we hope you will consider visiting us again someday, and choosing an upgrade to our concierge level floor, which does have it's own private concierge lounge for a cocktail hour with two complimentary beverages per night, and complimentary breakfast.

Our safes, which we do have in every room, are located in the the closet should you need to locate it for use during a future stay with us.

Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how your stay was!

I stayed on the Concierge Level at the Radisson for 3 nights and found it to be a premium hotel with glitches. Staff were all professional, helpful, and down-to-earth. The Concierge level is a great bonus with an area providing nice views, free breakfast, drinks, snacks, and lots of space to read/work. My room was very high quality, but... there were smells (no fresh air), electric outlets only work with the lights on (hope you do not need to charge anything at night), and an electronic key that continually fails to work (I had to get 10 (ten!) different keys during my stay. One tip; if you graduated from Western Michigan University, and possibly other Michigan Universities, you may qualify for a large discount.

Room Tip: Views are great from the upper floors.
