“STAY AWAY”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2011

From the potholes in the parking lot to the ceiling tiles DANGLING over the pool...just stay away from this place. The smoke detector in our room was hanging by its wires. The side door is unsecure (card reader broken) so anyone can walk in there. I can't believe this place hasn't been condemned. We left a few hours after checking in.

After reading the reviews of the hotel I was apprehensive about staying here. When I checked it out I was pleasantly surprised at what they have done. The common areas as well as most of the rooms have been repaired/remodeled and everything looks really good. The hotel is under new management, and the staff is very professional and courteous and they cannot do enough for the guests. I have been a guest here for over a month and I do not have one negative comment on my experience.

Just for every one to know, this hotel is a joke and not worth 100 dollars a nite. All thou there were activities for the kids it is terriable. Our room had wall paper falling of, mold on walls, busted lock, yern on the bathroom floor, ripped carpet throughout, busted tiles, dirty bedding nats and a terrible smell. Not to mention the management was terriable and rude. Only gave us thirty dollars back and never once came to inspect the room himself. What a joke. Stay clear of this hotel.

The hotel was one giant rathole, from all the stains and ceiling panels falling out in pool area to the cardboard duct taped over a broken window and vending machines out of order and tore apart. The second floor wasn't even being used or should not have been if it was and they still cranked up the prices for race weekend.

I am attending a conference in this hotel and I am the only "local" from Jackson at the conference. I am so ashamed to admit that I am a local because of the accomodations that we are forced to endure for this entire week.

The driveway and parking lot are your first clue that there are major problems. The potholes and ripped up asphalt are just terrible. As you walk into the hotel, there is a sign that says to please excuse our mess as we renovate and remodel. The sign is crooked, ripped and dirty. Remodeling is one thing, but there is no way a hotel should be open as it is completely renovating it. The ceiling tiles are coming down, missing, water damaged and crumbling. There were big bins in the middle of the hallway to the conference room collecting water from the leaking roof. There was no air in the stuffy conference room until approximately 2pm. One of the conference participants said that she had to ask the hotel staff to clean the vomit out of the bathroom sink. Some of the bathroom stalls did not have doors, others did not have locks.

We were given a rickety projection screen on a stand for the presentation and a flip chart with no markers. Once we got the markers, we realized that there was only one clean piece of paper on the chart. It is inconceivable that they would leave another conferences notes on a flip chart and then reuse it. There was a decent continental breakfast and a pitcher of water on each table. However, everything that was there in the morning was still there when the conference day ended at 4pm. Our dirty dishes were still on our tables after lunch. The water pitchers were half full of warm water because they had never been refreshed. The juice and food that we didn't drink or eat was still there when we left for the day.

The conference trainer informed us this morning that he had a very large spider in bed with him last night. Needless to say, he has checked out of this hotel and into another one across the highway.

I understand the need to update and make changes however, this is absolutely inexcusable. I have no idea why they are still open.

Definitely the worst hotel experience we have ever had. After checking in (the front desk staff were the only positive of our entire experience), we found our room was filthy, bug ridden, moldy, stained sheets, with the pool shut down by the health department the day before. The conditions were so horrendous that we could not stay; upon contacting the manager, he did nothing to help and would not refund our money. We immediately left and stayed down the street at another much cleaner hotel. This place needs to be shut down. DO NOT stay here.

I was searching for a hotel that my 2 children (9 and 11) would enjoy so I figured this place would be great. This property used to be a Holidome, which Holiday Inn owned. As soon as we arrived I immediately realized why they sold this property. It is really showing its age. I only saw 2 employees during my stay and 1 was the front desk clerk. This leads to complete chaos in the holidome area with the pool and delapidated putt putt course. The hot tub was not hot and there were 12 children playing in it. The room was also very outdated. Our room was located on a corner next to a hallway and an ice machine that we heard all night long. The bar that is at the hotel was closed even though the neon signs at the property advertising it were lit up. In the morning we went for the continental breakfast and quickly realized that for health reasons we should not let our children or ourselves eat there. Cereal and danish crumbs all over the floor, milk spilled everywhere, and a very foul odor. I can't see how this property could ever be renevated without completely closing for a lengthy period of time. We were really disappointed in this resort and hope we can save someone else from experiencing what we did.
