“Cozy and clean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2011

We have stayed at this motel several times in the past few years. The staff are very nice and accomodating. The rooms are very clean. It is not the fanciest motel, but it is clean and thats what matters to us. On the down side the beds are a little firm and are not the plush quality that you might get in a pricier motel. Speaking of price, it is very economical. There are other motels in the area, but we always choose to stay at this one because of cleanliness and price. Also, the manager, Jen, is very professional and friendly and has always made our stay pleasant.

Room Tip: The best rooms are the king rooms at the end of the building. Quiet and cozy. They have refridgerato...

We booked this hotel through a travel deal site and that is the only way you should ever be unfortunate enough to end up here. On a positive note, the staff was pleasant. On the negative side, the rooms were not clean. When we checked in, there were smashed dead bugs on the wall that housekeeping failed to notice over our three day stay. Our biggest concern, however, was that the entire place smells of mold or mildew with a hint of baby powder scented air freshener. It hits you immediately upon walking in the door. It was awful. After our first night we we ready to walk away, despite the fact we had prepaid for three nights. Unfortunately, due to a local festival, we were unable to find another option. As I type this review, we are attempting to air out our suitcases on the deck because the overwhelming odor came home with us. Allergy sufferers should avoid this place like the plague.

We made the reseervation over the phone from a inquiry on our GPS. We didn't pull in until midnight, so it was too late to find something else. It was a non smoking room/hotel that wreaked of smoke. The toilet seat was sitting on the toilet....not fastened...broken hinge jsut sitting there. Beds were old an lumpy. The diverter in the shower didn't work, so after a poor rest we couldn't get a shower. The first towel I grabbed in the mornng was torn 25% of the way across. It wasn't a towel it was a rag. I've never asked a hotel for a price adjustement in my life. I did here. They were sorry but no adjustments. I've never writtten a bad review for anyone eithe.... Protect your family....theirs lots of places to stay in Ironwood....stay away from this dump.

We would like to apologize for the problems you experienced during your stay. Although we strive to provide a quality room and a high level of guest service, we are not perfect and for that we are sorry. If we were made aware of the issues in your room right away, we would have corrected the problems immediately or moved you to a different room. Thanks again for taking the time to leave your comments.

There's not a whole lot to say about this hotel except to say that it's a decent hotel. The room was clean, and all of the rooms are now nonsmoking (though there were the lingering smells of smoke). The front desk staff was nice and there was a free continental breakfast along with free wireless internet. It is located near restaurants and other interesting attractions in the area.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2010

My wife and I stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. Considering the fact that several other hotels in town were fully booked, we were pleasantly surprised with the good rate we received by booking online just a couple days beforehand.

Upon check-in, we were told by the receptionist that she had upgraded us to a corner room with a king-sized bed on one of the quiet back corners of the hotel (a very nice gesture, and a nice bonus for us -- we had booked a queen bed originally).

Our room was clean and comfortable, and came equipped with a fridge, microwave, desk and chair, and a cushier soft chair. Our second-floor window overlooked a quiet residential street behind the hotel. Bathroom was clean and had not one, but two boxes of tissue provided. The bathtub made comically loud creaky sounds when you shifted your weight inside it, but otherwise it was just fine. Good water pressure. We slept very soundly in the king-sized bed.

The wireless internet worked great in the evening, but in the morning we could not seem to access it for some reason.

I believe there was a free breakfast offered in the morning, although we did not take advantage of this so I can't speak one way or another as to its quality.

Overall, the hotel is nothing fancy, but it was simple, clean, and quiet, and suited our needs just fine for a "just passin' thru" type of trip through the Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin.
