“Super nice place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2011

We stayed here in room 430 (a suite) August 7th so we could go to the Coast Guard festival in Grand Haven. This is a great place to stay, super clean, staff very friendly. The onsite resturants were great but the selection of food sort of limited. Lots of stuff for the kids to play with, decent pool and a couple of hot tubs (one inside one out). The suite was very nice, two large rooms, a pair of queen beds and a sofa sleeper, small kitchen and dining table. Compares to Emabassy Suites rooms IMHO.

If you are considering a stay in Holland or like us needed a base foer the Coast Guard festival I highly reccomend the Hampton.

Room Tip: Get a suite, worth the extra cost.

We booked the Hampton after the rates at the HIE next door went sky high. My wife and I and the two grandkids instantly fell in love with this place. I'm not sure what the hotel was in it's previous life but this was the largest Hampton we've ever stayed at plus the amenities were way more than your usual Hampton. The staff at check in were friendly and accomodating. The rooms are spacious and new. Sharkee's grill offered happy hour specials on drinks and appetizers and the pizza was very good. The kids loved the large pool and jaccuzis. The free breakfast was also very good but it tends to get a little crowded after 9:00 am. If you're looking to stay in Holland, do yourself and your family a favor and stay at the Hampton Inn. You be glad you did.

Our family stayed here to celebrate our son's wedding in Holland. The staff was most helpful in keeping our family members rooms together and honoring our requests. We loved being able to sit outdoors next to the pond and fountain to visit with each other. We have stayed at nearby hotels but we'll certainly stay here on our next visit. Thank you for helping to make for a memorable weekend!

Room Tip: Very nice bathrooms-loved the higher vanity area.

We were in Holland to help a family member move, so were tired and hot upon arrival. Our room was excellent, very spacious, with a generous bathroom. Large shower with no tub, which was perfect for my husband, who has some disability issues. As tall folks, we appreciated the higher counter in the bathroom. Our only issue with the room was the loudness of the fan, which we were using as white noise, as the hotel was full of families in town for a youth baseball tourney. There was no low fan setting, so the roar was a bit much. Also, the king bed had a queen top sheet. Hampton's very lumpy duvets need to be replaced soon! We often take out the inner comforter and just use the cotton cover. We were next to the guest laundry (which is very handy) but we could hear the machines through the adjoining wall at times.
The restaurant is really more pub style with ordering at the bar. Very noisy and dark. Food that we ordered to take to our room took far too long even though Sharkey's wasn't that busy. Food was very good, once it arrived. Breakfast in the same area flowed more smoothly than we anticipated; it just isn't a great space.
Overall, our stay was good, and we would probably stay there again.

My husband, 1 year old daughter and I stayed over the 4th of July weekend, while the room was a little pricey, we were very pleased with our room, the updated look of the hotel and the ammenities. The breakfast was very good and changed and had a variety of hot and cold foods both mornings we were there. I would definitely stay here again!

The remodel was very nice. We liked having a bar and restaurant handy, especially at 10:30 on a sunday night. The pasta dish and salad were a delicious surprise. Most impressive though were the food and staff at breakfast on the morning. When we were there it was very busy and the staff kept up admirably. The food was a step above most other hotel breakfasts, including some Hampton Inns. The scrambled eggs were way more that the dry, rubber eggs one usually gets. We would stay there again and reccomend it to out friends.

This property has gone through a huge remodel, definitely a big upgrade. Rooms and bathrooms are in excellent conditions and the staff was always friendly and available. Great night sleep and clean rooms, indoor pool, game area and onsite bar/restaurant definitely a plus for a Hampton Inn.
