I'm surprised that this appears to be the first review at this website of deBoer's Dutch Brothers, at 360 Douglas Ave., which at its website calls itself a full service European style bakery-restaurant.
I returned before leaving Holland the day after the conclusion of the 2010 Tulip Time Festival in order to get more bakery goods. However, that return was on a Sunday around lunchtime, and there was little left in the bakery from which to choose. (Perhaps the business did not bake for Sunday customers, or perhaps I arrived later than I should have. I suggest you call ahead to inquire about the bakery's Sunday practices. ) I bought good cookies for the car trip home.
A special treat on my first visit to the bakery was a pastry which I believe is made with almond paste. (In Pella, Iowa, a similar item is called Dutch letters. But in Holland, Mich., I did not find it in a letter shape. Instead, it is straight.)
I had no complaints about the restaurant food and would be pleased to return. But I definitely would return to the bakery.
I thought the bakery prices were very reasonable. I don't recall the pricing of lunch or what the prices would have been for other meals. So, to be on the safe side, I rated value at 4 instead of 5.
