My wife and I had actually planned to sail on the holland princess on the evening of our tenth anniversary, however approx 3 hours before our time we got a call saying that the cruise was cancelled and that we had the choice of canceling or going the following evening. No offer to discount our cruise for the inconvenience, pretty well take it or leave it. We had to scramble to find a place to give us a reservation for our anniversary
The cruise started late due to a fuse panel issue that left the passengers a tad nervous. The cruise got under way and then the dinner service began. The options for drinks included in the cost of the admission were lemonade and water, no sodas for free. Cocktails were available for 7 dollars.
Dinner was not at all worth what we paid. Buffet style serve yourself A pineapple marinaded chicken breast, baked potato and salad and cheesecake dessert.
The views of the homes along the lake and the narration from the captain was very well done. He was knowledgeable and I liked the local color. The bartender also sang some songs which provided a nice touch.
All in all I think the value is in the cruise and not necessarily the dinner. I would gladly pay 20 to 25 dollars for just a trip, but 100 dollars for the two of us didn't make sense from a value perspective as the dinner just fell way flat for me.
