“Worth the money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

We enjoyed the visit here. The garden is nice (wrong time of year for tulips though), the windmill tour is very interesting, and the organ was a hoot! The shoe dance was a little rough and too long, but overall we were glad to have visited this attraction.

“Windmill Is Interesting; The Rest, Not So Great.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

If you're a tourist in Holland, Michigan, chances are a trip to the windmill is a must. At least, that was the case for me. My husband and I paid the $7.50 admission and were told we had 10 minutes to make it to the windmill to see the wooden shoe dance demonstration. We made it in time to watch 3 pair of high school/college-aged girls going through their routine. While a couple of them smiled and tried to be animated for our crowd of about 20 spectators, it was a rather lifeless routine. My husband said he felt embarrassed for them. We then proceeded to go into the windmill for a short tour, which was rather informative. You can actually go up into the actual structure. From there, we walked around and looked at the dated exhibits, ending at the gift shop. I would imagine that this is very lovely at tulip time and a must-see. The grounds were well maintained and planted at the time we were there, and we did enjoy looking at the signage pointing out some of the more unusual trees and plants. If you want to see the windmill up close, however, you will have to pay because it is not visible until you drive into the park.

“Educational and fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

I enjoyed this location as much as the kids. It was unfortunate that the windmill is out of order and they hope to fix it this fall. People were friendly and overall a great experience. Flowers on property beautiful as well.

“Wrong time of year”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

We visited while in the area after shopping in downtown Holland in August. The park cost $7.50 per adult which I thought a bit overpriced, but there is a lot of upkeep, I'm sure. On display is a carousel, a small greenhouse (lots of succulents), a fascinating "organ" that runs on punch cards (like a player piano--sounds like it used to go with the carousel) , a good video, nice flowers (it, of course wasn't Tulip Time--their biggest draw), a few reproduction houses, and the main attraction: the windmill. Apparently, it is the only working (although not now, since it's being repaired) windmill in the US that was originally built in the Netherlands. Very interesting tour. This is a place that many teens will find "boring" but that AARP members (such as myself) would find interesting and relaxing.

“Good to see”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

when you think of Holland , i think of windmills, so it was one thing we wanted to see.
We hired a taxi for the day and he took us to Marken and the windmills. The windmills are good to go in to see if you can climb a steep ladder, not scared of heights.Other wise you can view them from the outside. there are very few of them left.
